It started really slow due to so much unveiling of the characters. The good thing is I was able to drag myself to finish it! Aside from being the romantic author, I observe Nicholas Sparks likes writing about the marines and this novel, The Lucky One is an exemplar. I quite fascinated with Logan's character. He's very loving and charming for Elizabeth and also to her son. I think it's a follow up book of Sparks where he includes (again) a dog in the book. And in this one, he chose a German shepherd to be part of the story. Elizabeth and Logan have the perfect love story not until Clayton, her ex-husband came into the picture to ruin all her love affairs. But Logan is willing to fight for Beth and their love which will leads in sacrificing his own life. A book with different twist, that leads to a picture that gives luck to a US Marine and later looks for the person who's in it. I ended up liking the book because of the mystery and wild-eyed it offers.

This book is great. I enjoyed it from beginning to end and now I can't wait to get to more of the journals of Nick Twisp.

Somebody recommended this to me. It's a modern re-telling of the classic Beauty and the Beast. I think I will like this. It's next in line on my 'books to read'.

This is a fun book to read/listen to on a rainy day. You flip through several pages while the announcers original play by play is going. Bob Costas does a great job helping you visualize by setting the scene. Not for someone with kids that like to continuously interrupt.

I first read this book as an adolescent more than 40 years ago. I remembered some parts quite well (mostly those involving Prince and Ruby), others not at all. While Delany's vision of technology 1,200 years in the future is a mixture of the creaky (all those twisting knobs and crackling speakers) and the visionary (sockets), his characters remain vivid and unique. Well worth your time.

This one actually looks kind of fun, but I am past reading stuff in teensy print and the library does not have a hard cover copy apparently.

Please read David Mitchell. Black Swan Green is linear and lyrical and therefore a good place to start. Consider A Separate Peace and To Kill a Mockingbird blended together and then filtered through some Nick Hornby monologues. His earlier works exemplify the virtues of fractured narrative. And I say that as a person for whom literature dropped dead with Eliot's patient.
