They didn't have "Imagine Your Life Without Fear"...the booklet version as a selection, so this gives you a review of both, although I have only read the shortened version. Yes, this little, itty-bitty book is amazing. I bought it on amazon after hearing enthusiastic recommendations from a like-minded friend. It is a shortened version of another book, "Fearless: Imagine Your Life Without Fear"...which I will probably purchase as well, and which you see listed on this review. Good Stuff!!!

I enjoyed my trip through all of the Narnia books again. There's such a good feeling in them about what matters.

The most famous aspect of Mark Twain's writing was his use of satire, which is extremely evident in this story, so much so that many places have banned this book or asked that parts be rewritten. I love the controversy that Twain creates, as well as the controversy that Huck creates himself by helping Jim escape to freedom after he himself has faked his own death to have his own freedom, too. The use of humor within his satire and he lovable and memorable characters inspires me in my own writing.

WOW! For the first half of the book, I was captivated by the way Coelho expertly discussed the intersection of love, desire, sex and freedom. The notions of sacred sex and the historical analysis of the sacred prostitutes was informative and eye-opening. But then...he took it somewhere I NEVER expected him to go and it was AMAZING. A must read, but DEFINITELY adults only!!

Really it's like a 4.5, it's just pure eye candy. The interviews with the dwellers are inspiring and eye-opening. The photos are of everyday places, mostly teeny, but there is so much there for the average-sized home. It's really a book about how people USE their homes, and gives you visual examples of people doing a good job of this.

I acknowledge the beauty in the prose of this book, as well as Marquez's talent for human insight. But if there's one thing he's really good at, it's making the reader realize what an endless string of unresolved suffering life is - over and over again. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood this (my second) time around.

Some of the early descriptive writing breaks my heart it is so sweet, then it got crazy, then gruesome, with an ending that challenges one to find one's own meaning for life in the book. It was a good read once, and we had fun discussing it in my reading group. Brian Voell is the local librarian who chose it, and I fought it every step of the way, but as I said, some of the writing is achingly lovely.
This book is probably the best or at least one of the best books I have ever read - it's a real page turner and when I'd got into it it became so scary I wouldn't dare to read it in the dark or at night, unless there were people near by - at the risk of sounding like a 'girls blouse' this book was absolutely terrifying..
