The subject matter of nutrition policy is close to my heart, but this was definitely a bit chewy and took my quite a while to get through.

Jim, young British seaman, is publicly censured for his action, joining the captain and other crew members in abandoning a sinking ship and its passengers. The novel follows Jim’s later attempts at coming to terms with his past. The other participants evade the judicial court of inquiry, leaving Jim to the court alone. Jim tries to remain incognito, abandons his place and moves further east, where his past can remain hidden. Here, Jim wins the respect of the people and becomes their hero. When the town is attacked by the marauder "Gentleman" Brown, though Brown and his gang are driven off, the people’s leader kills Jim as retribution for the death of his son. It’s not because of Jim’s deed, taking an action or turn back to his duty, but people’s expectations that accuse him for lack of courages, what they themselves don’t have. "لرد جیم" با ترجمه ی خوب صالح حسینی و توسط انتشارات نیلوفر چاپ و منتشر شده است. (1362) در مورد جوزف کنراد و آثارش، مشروح تر اینجا نوشته ام http://www.goodreads.com/author_blog_...

Rumpole travels to Africa, takes on the art world, defends a country squiress, and figures out an ingenius way to collect the fees that are owed him in this collection of short tales, read by Bill Wallis, featuring the always entertaining legal eagle and his cohorts.
completely unrelated to Cather in the Rye, but it had that same "feel". It was a brilliant and short read.
A harrowing and true narrative account of the persecution of Christians in Muslim countries. It struck home just how many things affluent western Christians take for granted.

this book was very boring. she didnt introduce any of the characters and most of the book was very tedious and plain. she really didnt have much of a personality either. and she kept repeating the same things over and over. i know that she lived in an attic for two years but ive read more interesting books on the holocaust. she also needs to get over this peter dude because that just got annoying.

I watched the movie before I read the book. I love both equally. I did find it kind of strange that they had the book based on the movie since it's normally vice versa, but still an amazing and powerful book.
