Normally I wouldn't include books like this, however it met the criterion of being over 100 pages so... It was a "gift" to the kids which we read so we could pass it on. The story was lame. I'm not really into talking animals, I guess. There were some smart-assed bits (for example, two mischievious cats named Felony and Miss Demeanor) which were cheesy but added some punches into a very dull story. I won't even bother going into it. Beckett liked it, though.

Certainly not the best in the series. It has quite some empty spaces that leaves the reader like, "Um...ok, but what happened next?" A major cliff-hanger, but it obviously suggests that there will be an 8th book. Yes, it has it's interesting parts and unnexpected deaths. Definetely one of the saddest, heart-wrenching books in the Outlander series. However, it does have all sorts of humor and does show how the characters have aged. Yes people, Claire and Jamie have to wear glasses now. Hard to believe, no? With so many things going on at once, one begins to think, "My God, how did the author manage to do this? Did she even sleep?" The setting takes place in the very beginning of America's fight for independence, and then the battle of Tuscarora, and the characters encounter Benedict Arnold, the country's biggest traitor. Yes, the author didn't sleep. Even so, I am looking forward to the 8th, and probably the last, installment.

Enjoyable. I really liked all the mathematical references that made the book much more interesting. Intellectually stimulating but the plot unravels at the end, that was disappointing

Since joining Goodreads I have begun to read better books, plus I have become more discerning in how I rate them. So, had I read this book a year ago I might have given it a higher rating, but at this point it is now a book that I liked, but not as much as many of the other books I have been reading. This book is more of a character study as opposed to a plot driven story. More of a retelling of each characters life experiences, than a story that is moving forward. I tend to like books that take place in different cultures and era's, so that is a plus with this book. I am always amazed at how much I take for granted. For some reason I expect that people should be treated with respect, and in a humane way. People in many other cultures do not have that expectation. This is another book that draws a pretty bleak picture of women and poor people living in India. I do really appreciate the fact that the author is Indian and grew up in Bombay...she brings a truth to the story.

This autobiography follows the life of a man who has made some unfortunate mistakes and finds himself transported to a cell, where he transforms into the O.G. (his nickname in prison, short for Original Gangsta). This is a really good read written by a man who probably never would have realized he had the talent, as he didn't start writing until he was incarcerated, as a way to keep himself sane. My friend Kevin recommended it to me after reading it for a graduate school class, but I would recommend it to anyone as leisure reading.
