She writes about herself like she's the most irreverent person to ever exist and yet she: a. wrote a book about herself and b. is a total name-dropper. Whatever. I gave 3 stars (not 2) because of her descriptions of Mapplethorpe and their bittersweet relationship and because her version of Gloria is one of my favorite songs ever.

I love William Gibson's short stories. They're all here. I especially enjoy Burning Chrome, Johnny Mnemonic, and Hinterlands. Fragments of a Hologram Rose was his first published short story (1977), and is an excellent example of lean prose. He cunningly writes stark sentences which imply huge amounts of information. The story Burning Chrome (1982) contains the first known use of the term "cyberspace".

More of my reviews at The Cozy Reading Corner This book was absolutely amazing!!! I know I've probably said this exact same thing for about a hundred other books; but this one book makes them all pale in comparison. This was a story that literally moved me to tears, which is something that doesn't really happen very often. But by the last page I was bawling. This is a book that you definitely want to see sitting on your shelf, so that you can enjoy the story and the characters and the world again and again!!! This is definitely an author to watch!!! Because I loved every single page of this book (except maybe the ending........ *sniffles*)!!! <3 I think this quote really describes how this book made me feel: "Sometimes you read a book so special that you want to carry it around with you for months after you've finished just to stay near it." — Markus Zusak Moving on- The characters and the dystopian world had so much depth! Lauren Oliver is a literary genius! She literally had me harboring the same fears, hopes, and dreams as the characters. And I can honestly say that the whold idea of Delirium is so original; it was like a breath of fresh air. Not to mention the fact that she made this 441 page book go by in a lingering flash. (How about that description- lingering flash- it doesn't make much sense right? Well, it will..... once you read Delirium!!!) In my honest opinion, I would have to say that this book is probably at (or near) the top of the Best Books in the World list. :)) It was seriously that awesome! Now I'm going to stop this review before I really get out of hand with my fan-girling. :))

Being a fan of his other works, I was eager to read this but it kind of made me want to crawl into an AA meeting wearing dark glasses and a large hat. I think P. Theroux needs to have more sex and actually take some drugs---this was the most lackluster and acrid fiction I've ever read about a subject that's usually pretty juicy. And his primary female character was just like a literary version of a blow up doll, only made from wood. Splinters are not nice.
