Nice blend of native american history, humor and insight into present day life on a reservation.

While I did laugh in places, and agreed with him in most, I still got sick of the self-righteousness.

One of the three favorite books of all time, for me. Probably, the best historical fiction I have read, in the way it evokes the epoch and the personalities of a particular time (Russia, 1680s-1700s)
one of the more interesting books i've read with an unexpected twist.
Great book but I've had enough of the story of the love affair between Queen Elizabeth and Robert.
I got this book yesterday and read it in 2 hours. I loved it! It's the first book in Korman's On the Run series and it moves fast :-)

Outstanding. I tend to read 'literary fiction,' but I don't particularly aim for books with a lot of darkness - but this book is pitch black. No heroes, no light, no redemption. What an incredible book. It has been a really, really long time since I felt truly sad when a book was over, but when I turned over the last page of Finn I was actually bummed out for a minute because it was over. The author stays within the time frame created by Twain, but creates a backstory for minor characters that adds depth to the familiar story. I can't stress enough how terrific this book was!

Ishmael Beah, a young boy who lives in Sierra Leone was enjoying life with his family and friends until he had his life turned upside down by war. Rebels invaded his town and killed everyone they saw causing him to flee. He was separated from his family and friends. He roamed for days and went through destroyed villages, seeing all of the dead people gruesomely murdered. After awhile he gets picked up by the army. Where he learned to kill mercilessly and use drugs to numb him from everything around him. For years he killed rebels in the army; he killed hundreds of people. All of this became normal to him; every day of killing was a normal day, until one day UNICEF picks him up. Ishmael goes through rehab and has a difficult time to becoming normal again. He learns to make friends and socialize. He spends a lot of time in rehab, until he is finally reunited with a family member. Until his world was once again turned upside down. I give this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. It was beautifully written. It is a true story and it keeps you on your toes every page turned. This book is full of action and is filled with many different emotions. The only reason I gave this book 4.5 out of 5 was the ending. I won’t give away the ending, but it was not up to expectations. I would definitely recommend this book if you can stomach the gore and gruesomeness of this book. If you need to pick up a book, this is the one.

I finally got around to reading this just because it is set in Washington DC, and I always think it's fun to read about places that I know and can relate to. It was a good, though predictable, story, and I was reminded that Brown's writing is at times so overdescriptive that I was flipping ahead pages and pages (I once tried listening to The Da Vinci Code on CD, and had to shut it off because the descriptions would become so boring and tedious I was afraid I was going to fall asleep while driving).
