'My soul to take' is the first book I've read by Rachel Vincent and it was pretty good. One thing I couldn't get over was how come Nash suddenly got interested in Kaylee just like that. It's not like they never met before or one of them were new to eachother. But I could accept the answer that the author gave us but just a tiny skeptical. The lovely romance between Nash and Kaylee were HOT. But I could sense a love triangle going on in those reamining books with Tod involved. My question is why? I'm slowly getting tired of all those crazy love triangles and it just worns me out and make me getting less excited and engaged in the story. So hopefully Kaylee can stay 'faithful' to Nash and prevent anything that will ruin their relationship. Just stay focus on one person, ok? Since it's the first time I read about Banshees so I thought the story were very interesting and different from other paranormal teen series.

I loved this book as much as the first novel to the series! Emily Giffin certainly doesn't dissapoint! I never Imagined that a girl like Darcy Rhone could grow up and become a better person than she ever imagined she could be. It reminds you that anyone can change, they just have to want to. Its the perfect, rainy day read and has as many surprises in this book as in "Something Borrowed" if not more. I love the geographical switch from New York City to London. I am anticipating the movie to "Something Borrowed" this spring and I can't wait!

I was interested in reading this book after my brother-in-law told me about the whole body sleeving thing in Altered Carbon. I must say, it's a pretty fantastic idea and when all the world building and characterization got rolling, I was hooked. I wanted to rate this book higher, but there were several aspects that bugged the shit out of me. The most glaring was the absolute unnecessary plot twists that ended with limp-wristed resolutions and convoluted quasi-philosophical reasoning on the part of the main character, Takeshi Kovacs. This leads me to the second problem, which is Takeshi Kovacs himself. I thought he was so fucking two dimensional that it was almost painful to read. It wasn't as if he was shallow on purpose - he read like a movie in 3D; Trying irresistibly to be something he isn't while doing so with loud noises, explosions and slow motion. Honestly, he'd make a good video game character in a game made by Capcom or Konami, and better yet, his character and even the whole book would translate well into a movie. I'm surprised it hasn't already. Lastly, a lot of the writing was CLICHE, in CAPS. Really, but I think that was the point, to create a kind of "noir" atmosphere. Kovacs actually says to someone, "Don't give up the day job." Are you kidding me? This universe take place like 400 years into the future. Come on. Other than that, I enjoyed it. Morgan can really weave a good action sequence and when he really gets going, can really build up some descriptive passages. Good use of graphic violence, and some overindulgent sex scenes which I didn't mind at all. I plan on reading more of his work.
