Interesting read that drags in the middle. Looks into the mind of a haunted man who has everything in life, from financial success to a beautiful wife. But has incredible regret about past events.

The hunter's tale of tracking and killing a man-eating leopard who killed over 125 people in India in the early 1900s (breaking into homes and stealing people away at night no less!). A fascinating insight into what happens when the balance between man and nature falls out of whack.
this book was amazing it is a good book for girls!
Good explanation of the "natural" birthing process. (Isn't it sad how the old-fashioned way of popping out babies without drugs has to be described with a retronym now that epidurals and planned c-sections are the norm?) Offers a good description of the stages of labor and how the birth partner can recognize which stage the mamma is in. Be forewarned - plenty of full frontal photos of childbirth here! (Of course, if you're reading this book, you've probably reached a point in your life where you're going to be seeing a lot of those images in the next few months.) Read it with Husband-Coached Childbirth.

another bookclub hit/miss. hard to identify with since the author gives no rationale for walking across afghanistan. it seems to be not-journalistic, not-anthropological, not-political, not----anything. be prepared to cringe at every little drawing (yes, the author inserts drawings. of donkeys, of pottery shards, of structures. i'd be eternally grateful for this illustrated version of the journey if only the illustrations didn't seem to be done by a child of mediocre talent). but, like a second-rate movie, i just can't stand to leave the theatre until the end (another 150 pages or so). so it goes.

Explores some of our deepest questions as they are posed by an emergent artificial intelligence and a singular girl with no roots. I love robot stories and I love most of James P. Hogan's work I've read so far. I'm sorry that he will not be able to bless us with more, but continue to be inspired by his work.

I liked it well enough. There were some great science fiction moments in it. Lots of action but the ending left me a little cold. Seemed kind of half baked. Like I had seen it before. It was an interesting variation on the cyber thriller and worth a look but I haven't decided if I am going to read the 2nd novel, this is directly related to the ending for me. Not sure I liked where the story was going.

I loved it, I loved Maggie as a character, she was so amusing and her thoughts felt so realistic. I liked the way she wrote the story so that you had to stay til the end to find out the beginning. Story in a story is always hard to pull off and Keyes did it well.
Sorry....I couldn't get past the first several dozen pages.
This is a mystery about a female sleuth (and self-proclaimed amateur psychologist) in 1920s England. I liked the premise, and the author very effectively evokes an atmosphere of post-WWI melancholy. I also was interested in the novel's examination of social class, and how it was changed by the war. Overall, though, I found the plot too slow, and the mystery somewhat thin.
