A compelling read. I was shocked at the fate dealt to the American Indian by American settlers and government. It makes slavery look like a "walk in the park". The history books did not relate the same story. I am glad the truth be told.

After reading Masson's "When Elephants Weep," and after reading this book, I will continue to read anything he writes. Love him. There were just a few - very few - parts that got too scientific for my liking, but overall I thought it informative and fascinating. He mostly tells about his dog Benjy, a support dog who was released from the program, and about dogs and their behavior in general. Interesting fact: Humans walk into a kitchen and can smell stew cooking; dogs walk in and can smell every single ingredient in the stew. Their sense of smell is astounding. Can't wait to look up his other books. He's got quite a few.

I just thought it was kind of creepy and I would not read this book to a small child. The illustrations were nice and the prose clever but I guess the snakes just creeped me out. There were so many. You feel a faint restriction Of serpentine constriction In moments you can barely breathe or cough You face a scary issue Is the boa going to squish you? It's impossible to yank the serpent off Even though you're bony He clings like macaroni It feels like you're about to be deceased then he hisses in your ear, "I truly like you, dear, "And sssssssomeday (maybe) you will be releassssssed." Yeah, that's what I want to read to my little guy! Maybe I just don't care for snakes that much.

I only read the psy/changeling story by Nalini Singh, Stroke of Enticement. This was DarkRiver soldier Zach and school teacher Annie's story. I think this story is one of my favorites in the series. Zach is, well perfect! He's so sweet and caring and he immediately knows how to go about wooing Annie. And Annie was so wounded, both emotionally and physically, yet she still stood strong and didn't give in until she was ready to. This whole series has tuned out to be one of my very favorite series ever. *Edited 9/6/13 I read Christmas Heat by Lora Leigh in order to see if I wanted to read her Breed series. After this that would be a definite YES! I LOVED it! Yummy! I'm looking forward to finally getting to this series! :)
hagiography really.
A novel about acceptance and love (albeit a slightly skewed version of love) amongst a family of circus "freaks." Astounding and quite disturbing to read about the things the mother forces upon herself in order to have "acceptable" children. Gives you several reasons to feel good about yourself--even if you do have a tail!

Another addition to the Fablehaven series. I put this one down a few times because I got nervous and was apprehensive to continue. But continue on I did and I wasn't disappointed. These books are really fun to read.
This book made me love the series. Why? Jacob Black is an amazing charcater. I really loved he and Bella's relationship. I also like that we learn more about the wolves! This is where the story gets interesting for me.
I only had a vague idea what this book was about when I started reading it. Perhaps that's why I enjoyed it so much. There was never a dull moment in the story, the writing was really good, and all of the characters were engaging. I'll never look at faerie's the same way again! I'm not so patiently awaitign the next book.
