I realize that giving five stars to a reader is sort of like saying that some band's greatest hits album is your favorite CD. That said, I think that John McPhee is one of the two best American reporters (along with Studs Terkel) and that this collection does a great job of providing an introduction to his work.

The penultimate Harry Potter book! Besides setting up the final book with everything Dumbledore teaches Harry about Voldemort in order to defeat him (and that cliffhanger of an ending), this one is mainly about relationships. Though is borders on gossipy and catty teenage behavior, it never crosses the line to become too much of a soap opera. But let's face it, life as a 16-year-old is rife with the drama of a soap opera, at least we probably all think so at the time. Harry also matures nicely into a true leader and not just the rebellious one from Book 5. Now, onto The Deathly Hallows and the exciting conclusion...

By far better than its predecessor, this book had me at page one and left me sad to see the final page. This is where my streak of sadism and the love of pain becomes prominent, as the events that transpire in this book may not be for the weak of heart, but definitely for those who wish go punish someone (SUCH AS MY BOSS) vicariously through the antagonist of this book. I genuinely know there's more to say - but read it if you're interested. Blood, misery and trauma are all good for the soul.

This would be a great story for a mature middle school student to read. It tells the story of a child from Yemen married off at a very young age, and of course, divorced by age 10. It could serve as an introduction to the suffering of women in other countries, and the need to continue to fight for their rights.

The Book started out kinda slow because the author had a lot a characters to introduce and an entire world to familiarize you with.IT also seemed slow because the first part deals with a lot of political scandals. By the end of the book Action starts to take place and really keeps your attention. I am excited to see where the rest of this series goes.

Reading from a series is a peculiar thing. The things we frequently consume produced in sets (movies, books, art, etc.) are judged and often appreciated much differently than their independent-work counterparts -- even when they belong to the same person. In a series, bits and pieces and characters and storylines are judged against one another; each individual part is viewed as an integral piece of a larger whole - a stair in the case, and there is undoubtedly at least one moment along the line that you think to yourself, "I don't think it will get any better than this one"... until it does. Goblet of Fire was that moment for me. I am sure as I press forward to complete reading the series I will find myself saying it again but as of now, this has been the pinnacle. Reviewing from the standpoint of a 24 years old business professional, I was downright enamored with the 4th installment by Rowling. This being my first venture through the ever-popular series (I know.. I basically lived under a rock), I found the 3 previous stories, though deep in their underlying message, to be childish on the surface. In my humble opinion, Goblet really elevated those themes and the plot twists and turns TOTALLY HAD ME! When a children's book fools an adult, it's a well-written piece of lit. Engaging and free-flowing, Goblet gets my full marks as an entertaining piece of work as well as my so-far-favorite-of-the-series approval. FIVE STARS!!!!
