I was hoping for more of an account of Mrs. Vreeland's work life and instead it was an "as told to" collection of incidents of her past. It was an interesting picture of what life was like in the early 20th century, but not enough information about her career.

This was my favorite book as a little girl and at 28 I still found myself wishing for Jo to be with Laurie! I never highlighted a book as much as I did with this because I think Mrs. March has timeless advice on life, love, happiness and marriage (although I did feel her marriage advice was dated).

After reading this book I felt emotionally drained. SUch a sad story, Im not sure in those circumstances I could go on - or even deal with the circumstances, as fictional as it is, if everyone was as organized in death, would it lighten the load for the ones you leave behind. ?? Would it make it easier knowing the one you love will be cared also by another you love even after in death ? This book showed the beauty of close friendships. Kaden and Seth have been friends since they were little, best of friends, who shared a love for each other to last till the end. Kaden lives a luxurious life, beautiful wife, successful businees and a best friend anyone could want. Till that dreaded day he finds out his life is crumbling around him, he is diagonized with cancer and has mabye a year to live. Kaden being the control freak that he is sets the wheels in motion, finding someone to love his wife after his time comes and to give her everything emotionally and phyicially needed. Organizing everything so he may enjoy the last of his days with the two people he loves most. Seth is invited over and Kaden spills the beans and puts a proposal on him that completley blows Seths mind. Seth is filled in of past and present occurances and Kaden tells Seth of his lifestyle BDSM _ Master to his wife Leah - her his slave. A life - that Seth new nothing about. Kaden has asked him to take care of his wife as her Master when he dies. Seth very Relucant - agrees to help Kaden to ease his mind- what wouldnt he do for a dying man - his best friend in life. Kaden wants Seth to help his wife get through the darkest days to follow. But is Seth able to follow in Kaden 's steps and give the love of their lives everything that she needs ? Will guilt over ride his decision? Leah, Seth and Kaden enjoy the last twelve months of his life- Seth learning his new role unsure if he can live up to Leah's needs, Kaden shows him the ropes and teaches him everything he needs to be Leah's 24/7 master and to keep her happy and to help her survive the loss of Kaden. Leah's past - reason behind her needs for pain are outlined in the book, this was- and I cant relate to, never being in those circumstance or closely related but it seemed to flow freely and blend in well with the storyline.Explanations given - A heartwarming, tear jerker and emotional read - filled with moments where you just wander how and why. Tears will fall, moments where you feel what the characters are feeling, I felt like my heart had been ripped open.. * I am an emotional reader ** sniff sniff - The sex scenes used made the book, it showed emotional feeling between three people in love. Not dirty or loosely used, it fit the dialgue perfectly. The storyline was fluent and evenly paced, and overall I enjoyed that Kaden even near death - control freak that he was, let Seth and Leah know he will always be with them. His continuel notes and gifts was heartfelt. The sex scenes not over the top only adding to the storyline, three lovers enjoying the last days together the best way they know how. Am amazing read, filled with sex, lust, love, and heartbreak, it will keep you on the edge of your seat , tissues in hand and intrigued at events that become about. A love story, filled with raw emotions and sadness, it shows that love can get you through.

I came across this “classic” today and…well…where do I begin? The back cover advises that this “is the perfect first book to share with a child.” My family agreed so I had to read this inane “story” every night to my son until I was able to locate significantly better board books. That is, until I made it to the local bookshop and grabbed any and everything that wasn’t Goodnight Moon. Ten years later, my son disdains books and, upon rediscovering this, I now know why. Now I understand why the cover doesn’t specify that you should share this with your child. My son finally slept through the night once I switched to NOT-Goodnight Moon. Unlike one of the other reviews here, I won’t force a “spoiler alert” by giving away the ending. Of course, I ask you, what freaking ending? The annoying infant/rabbit/thing finally shuts up? Whoops! Did I give it away? No, no, this book doesn’t really ever end. The garish graphics and rhythmic incompetence ring in your head for months after finally tossing it into a box in the basement (use triple layers of packing tape). Let me just pinpoint one aspect that’s bothered me for years. You cannot rhyme “moon” with “moon” and be granted “Classic” status. I’m sorry – no dice. No third-rate, illiterate rapper would get away with this, why does Brown? All I can guess is that, written shortly after the Second World War, the author (and illustrator) composed this under the duress of shell shock. Is that the explanation? Any other logic eludes me. Perhaps it is telling that the one object the baby bunny neglects to acknowledge is the copy of Goodnight Moon sitting on the night stand.

Another recommendation on the history of colonization. Provides more narrative detail than "King Leopold's Ghost." More personal, more readable and a good follow-up to the aforementioned book. Captivating accounts of physically handicapped capitalist moguls, fashion-savvy street-kids, and wild taxi-touring among many other things give a good feel for life in the congo.
