Truth be told, I wanted to read "that book by Nabokov" and the guy at the book store even called me out on it. I woudl not be at all suprised if that is the only reason anyone reads it. The main character is just creepy and not all that interesting.

I actually started sobbing at the end of this book and I was reading on my lunch break in a deli in mt vernon. the counter person looked at me and asked if I was ok. I said, yes, just the book and then they looked at me like I was a jerk for crying over a book. absolutely beautiful/heartbreaking but good.

Jane Austen is absolutely one of the best writers of the English Language and a keen observer of human behavior and manners. This book is one of my favorites partly because one if the characters is named Mary Anne and also because I loved the way the family of women cared for each other and that Mary Anne married the right man in the end.

In keeping with the ever popular self-referential trend of writing. So, as far as structure, it doesn't present anything new. But, I enjoyed reading this, because it was written very well. The characters are well-developed and the scenes so descriptive that you feel fully-absorbed by the story, almost physically so. Just a warning though, it's very very sad.
