What should a Christian look like? I think Rob Bell does a great job at giving analogies that are easy to understand and think about. I feel it's hard being a Christian today when so many have been burned by someone who says they are a Christian and now the whole church is tarnished. I enjoyed reading this book because it gave me hope and it also inspired me to work on areas in my own spiritual life.
I have to admit this seemed to drag on and on and on at times. When Twain was describing places I've been, however, I found it more enjoyable since I could relate to some of his experiences. Twain's dry and often sarcastic humor kept me going until the end though. Still, if you've never read Twain and want to, I'd start with the classics... The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, or Pudd'nhead Wilson.

i freaking loved this book. it re-defined the role of the reader and made the process of reading a process of involvement that i had never experienced before. i read it over a few weeks on the trains. and people must have looked at me funny, the way i kept flipping my book around in circles or upside down. but it is not just the gimmicks that make the book worth reading -- it is a series of really gripping, moving stories. if you are a fan of flann o'brien's At Swim-Two-Birds, you should look into this one.

This is not a fictional book but it certainly reads like one. The three most important things I took away from this book were "When our hearts are at war we tend to exaggerate others' faults." "The best leaders are those whom people want to follow. We have a different word for people whom others follow only because of force or need. We call them tyrants." "If I am correcting and correcting but problems remain, that is a clue that the solution to the problem I am facing will not be found in further correction."

Entertaining continued adventures of Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander, two of the most fascinating characters in literature. This book is a semi-satisfying conclusion to the Millennium trilogy, though some loose ends leave the reader wondering about that mysterious fourth manuscript...

Nice story, I enjoyed it.
Warning: excessive chapter coverage (per day) will result in saying "man" and a strong desire to buy cassette tapes. Maybe that's not a bad thing. It's sure as hell better than saying "like" every third word.

This is a beautifully written & researched novel about a young woman of Jewish decent trying to survive during the Inquisition in Europe in the middle ages. Although historical fiction, it incorporates actual historical figures appropriately. It is hard to believe that any woman who was a healer, herbalist, educated, outspoken at that time was consider a "witch" in the negative sense. I highly recommend this novel.
