3.5 for me. This Coben book didn't grab me right off like most of them do. But, when it DID grab me it was good and a real page turner. I was able to figure out some of it, but still had the twist I didn't expect. Really do like Harlan Coben!

The second in what is shaping up to be a fantastic series for me. I have been off the paranormal kick for a few weeks.... kickstarted again this month with Covet and now have read this one. I have stayed away from reading both this and the BDB series at the same time because of all the negative comparisons from other reviewers. So I wanted to be able to give this series a chance to stand on its' own merits. So I will read this series first then the BDB. I loved this one! Both Dante and Tess were great. They had just the right balance of vulnerability and strength, angst and kicka**ness (is that is even a word). The sex was hot, hot, hot! The relationship built at just the right momentum even though I thought I may be put off by how fast Dante 'latched' on to Tess - it didn't put me off in the slightest. Loved all the other characters and like other reviewers I sincerely hope Sterling Chase gets his own story (although looking at the blurbs for all up to Breeds #8 he hasn't so far :( ) My only slight grumble is that the climax of the story seemed to be a bit rushed and Tess accepting Dante and his world just a wee bit too slick. I don't know, I guess I'm just a sucker for the hero having to work a bit harder to be accepted and the heroine being a bit more reluctant. Overall, though IMO, it well deserves its' 5 stars from me cos, I finished the book smiling.

This book is amazing... I recommend to anyone who is a bit of a history buff. I hate the culture/history of late 1800's in the US and was weary of reading this but it was fascinating... couldn't put it down.

I wanted to love this book. I did, really. I just couldn't. It was stark, bleak, and pessimistic, true, which wouldn't necessarily have killed it for me if I thought he had genuinely interesting things to say. As it was, he had some intriguing story lines, so he got a three, but the insight/exceptional creativity/brilliant command of language that I was hoping for never really materialized. People whose literary opinion I respect absolutely loved this book; maybe you're one of them. Frankly, I don't see what the fuss was all about. Please discuss.

When Kevin's father gets arrested by the police because of evidence that he is the DB25 serial killer, Kevin is convinced his father is innocent and will go to great lengths to prove it, including seeking out his estranged grandparents, risk getting suspended, and snooping through his father’s stuff. The portrayal of a normal life destroyed by the power of guilt by association through a teenage boy’s eyes, My Father's Son is fast-paced and suspenseful, although the relationships between characters feel contrived at times. The ending is abrupt, but satisfying. While there is no objectionable language or overt violence, the hint of romance and the middle school/high school setting will appeal to sixth graders and older.

One of my favorite books in high school and college. Salinger portrays isolation and one's struggle to individuate with starking reality. I love this story. Franey and Zooey is a good follow-up.

an adorable and strange book, the poems are nice, but somewhat generic, though they do reveal some interesting truths about humanity's love affair with the cat, it is the photography that really makes this book good, the pictures dare to go beyond the cutesy wutesy and take a more artistic almost manrayesque approach to the cat and reveal and revel in the strangeness and arabesque beauty of these most graceful of creatures.
