Autobiographical stories about a boy who moves to Colorado as a boy and falls in love with horses and cattle. (Sound like anyone we know?) I can't wait to read this to my kids. Steve's parents read it to him growing up and it teaches a lot of good morals, such as building your character-house. The main character Ralph is very ingenuitive. Steve and I have read or listened to all of the books in the series, and I particularly liked "Man of the Family", "Shaking the Nickel Bush", and "The Dry Divide". I didn't particularly like Fields of Home, it was very slow.

Milan Kundera's best book (and I think I've read most of them). This is the only one I'd give 5 stars: it manages to express the human condition while hitting a most unusual, personal note, and at times, highly poetic. This is a very special book that merits a slow reading, taking the time to savour the images...

I really enjoyed this book. It made so much sense when you look at all of the "facts" that Brown presents.
A unique retelling. I like it.

Received at the BotNS Retreat Yankee BookSwap! What would happen if all of a sudden one day, light began emitting from every wound and sickness people had? How would it change how we treated each other, ourselves? This is a group of short stories that take place when this phenomenon actually occurs. The time frame differs for each one, some happen when it originally happens, some just after, and some many years after. The format of the book reminded me in this way of A Visit From the Goon Squad, a favorite of mine. It was a short, fairly easy read, with well-written characters. My biggest complaint, and why I didn't give this a higher rating, is that I wanted to spend more time with some of the characters, and I felt like just as their lives were beginning to pull me in, we had to jump to a new person. A solid 3.5.
Very close to five stars. This book is extremely violent, much more than I usually can tolerate. However, the blend of Brazilian history, politics, religion, and justice makes it worthwhile. Highly recommended for any fan of crime novels.

I've drafted both pants and a tee from this book with only marginal success. If you are REALLY interested in drafting your own patterns, this book is not for you. The information presented about altering patterns is helpful however.

Meski ending buku pertama berbau-bau Hollywood :p, saya akan langsung lanjut ke "The Last Empress", sekuelnya. Mariii....
