I read this in high school and it was the only one of his books that I could read. Great story.

I enjoyed the photography references and I suppose I like the fact that the ending wasn't predictable...

I liked this book because I knew the movie was coming out so I knew who was playing each character. I laughed out loud imagining Harrison Ford (one of my favorites) doing the dialogue and seeing his facial expressions. If you haven't seen the movie it's definitely a fun and quick read. If you have seen the movie I'm not sure what to tell you.

I hold these books in a category apart from all others - how, after all, can they be compared to anything else? I remember devouring The Lord of the Rings, tracking the journey of the fellowship on photo-copied maps, reading them again and again until the pages literally fell out. They are some of the most important books to me: such a part of the way I view the world has been shaped by them. I can't walk through the White Mountain woods without thinking of Lothlorien and Rivendell - and I love it like that because it means Middle Earth is all around me and that I just have to look for it in the right places - nor can I read another high fantasy books without thinking of these. They will forever be in my heart and I give immeasurable thanks to Tolkien for penning them.

I read this in 6th grade and got to meet the author. The best book about the Holocaust, hands down. The amount of detail is incredible. It's very easy to imagine going through the Holocaust yourself, which makes it all the more effective.

more like 3.5 stars, but i can't give it the same rating as the dark divine because it was exponentially better. after finishing the dark divine i wasn't even sure if i wanted to read the sequel, but some spoiler-less reviews said it was loads better and they were thankfully correct. to begin with, i liked grace a whole lot more this time around. i enjoyed seeing her learn about her abilities and grapple with her feelings and struggle with the wolf in her. there's a fire in her that piqued my interest that i don't remember from the first book (then again it's been a year). very smart move on the author's part to bring in characters like gabriel and talbot; they're intriguing and entertaining, bringing very different and interesting perspectives to the mix. i'm a little confused as to what's going on with jude, but i'm sure those questions will be answered in the future. i'm glad this wasn't a book about grace agonizing over why daniel was pulling away (*cough* new moon). instead, she has her own secrets and excitement to deal with. her life doesn't revolve around him, though he is a crucial part of it. there were some good plot twists and some predictable ones as well as some cheesiness (red riding hood, really?), but on the whole, thoroughly engrossing and entertaining.

Another winner from Wiprud! Garth Carson the taxidermist is this time a suspect in a serial murder case in which the victims are murdered with big game mounts that their father or grandfather hunted. Garth's travels take him to Hell (Michigan), Chicago and New Mexico. He's chased by the killer, the FBI, and the Air Force. He again teams up with his brother Nicholas, and his nudist mom Gabby, the Russian gnome Otto, and his girlfrind Angie. Throw in a luchadore wrestler, ancient spirits, a conspiracy theory, aliens, an the "Mystical order of the Tupelca" and you have a wild ride sure to serve up some snickers!
