Excellent instruction. I have highlighted several key principles that I hope to review often.

Based in the 1930's South. Interesting characters and story line. I wish I had liked the main character a little more. I have a tendency to want heroines with really pure souls and very few measure up :) I can see why the main character had the faults she had but still...I guess very few can live up to Queenie in The Persian Pickle Club. The story line delves into racism and there's a bit of homosexuality but not enough that I was uncomfortable.

Entertaining & based on a creative idea, although disbelief must be greatly suspended when it comes to the time traveling logistics.
This is my current favorite children's book. I love to read it before bed. Translated from the French original, it is just such a refreshingly honest tale about a boy who wants to belong and through no fault of his own, is set apart. I was expecting some lesson to be taught by this situation, some moral revelation that would make the situation better, But what is great about this book is the surprise at the end, which always makes me smile. Read it yourself - it's a Canadian classic. Some critics have said this book is really about the "two solitudes" of Quebec and English-Canada, but I think that's really taking it too far.
I know you didn't think I'd read it since I wasn't nuts about Twilight, but I'm doing a community pairing thing to blog about the book with a high school student. I zoomed right through this one; however, I still don't like Bella. I think she screwed over Jacob completely in this one. I like Jacob a lot better than Edward. I think I will have to read the rest of them now.

I piked this book from the Reader's Choice section at the library. It is sort of Jane Austin with an addition of magic. It was interesting but I felt it could have used more of the magic and little less angst or at least developed the characters more. It is a nice light read.

Wilentz has created a balance analysis of the Reagan Administration and the people who served during his time in office. What I learned from this book centered on Reagan's hardline conservatism to the reality of his desires to work behind the scenes to accomplish what he truly hoped to achieve. The chapters on his philosophy, his great commitment to reducing the threat of nuclear weapons, and his involvement in the Iran Contra scandal were eye-opening for me.
Awesome .... Get the right people in the bus and much much more

I rarely don’t finish a book, but this one is sadly in that small pile of exceptions. I got half way through and had to step away from the pages or I was going to have a nervous breakdown. It’s not just that the plot has about as much freshness as a sweaty sock, but they execution is amateur at best and painful at worst. I realize this is geared towards younger audiences, but I think even tweens will be a bit taken aback by the corniness. I will not beleaguer the point because as I said, I didn’t finish reading it, but I cannot in all honesty recommend it. If you have patience and a hugely open mind, then you might get something out of it, otherwise leave it alone.
