Eat cake isn't anything spectacular, but it's a fun, light read. I liked how it portrayed the whole family helping Ruth out with her cake business. It's pretty rare to see a contemporary book that shows a family working together and a couple who work through their hard times instead of just getting divorced. Also, I loved reading about all that cake! I've been dreaming of cake baking ever since I started reading the book. Mmmm!

I liked this book, it's quite interesting. The protagonist, Remy doesnt want to get hurt from relationships so she doesnt believe in love. Her mother (having had multiple marriages) is a good reason why Remy shouldnt believe in love. A boy named Dextor appears in Remy's life, and will he be able to change Remy's perspective?

I am Jake Barnes. I'm getting used by Brett Ashley. I'm the trout in the river that was once firm, the bull that was gored and abandoned by the herd. Okay, not really. However, Jake is right up my alley: your typically disillusioned, desirous, sad figure looking for a purpose. I know a lot of people hate characters like this, but these are my favorite types of protagonists. Anyways, back to the book. A lot of great themes in here, and a lot better than I expected.

Notes From A Frustrated Archer: As much as I enjoyed this trilogy, there were a couple of nitpicky archery things that irritated me throughout, which I ignored for the sake of the story. As a lady who shoots a longbow, the female-archer aspect of this book was particularly exciting for me, but I was disappointed by the author's apparent lack of knowledge with regards to the language and terminology of the sport. On a couple of occasions, some reference is made to 'firing' an arrow. One does not 'fire' an arrow. The correct term is 'to loose' and anyone who practises archery to any level will quickly correct you on this if you mention it in their presence. The second thing I remember is the continuous use of a 'sheath' of arrows. It's called a quiver. You can google stuff like that, it doesn't take a lot of research. An arrow is not a gun, or a sword. I would have forgiven this if the author was switching between terms for variety of language, but I do not recall the correct term being used even once. And (this may be incorrect as I don't have the book to hand) I don't recall much reference to nocking or anchoring being used, which are terms that anyone with archery knowledge would use regularly. Just, please, next time you decide to write an entire series based around a particular skill or talent, maybe do some research into that skill, yeah? It just made the descriptions of actions scenes sound a bit mickey mouse to people in the know.
