I've never read travel essays before, but this book makes me want to read more of his other books. His facts create interest and sometimes a chuckle or two. I kept finding myself going to Wikipedia to see more on the subjects. I would suggest those who may have a little bit interest in what make Australia special to read this book.

This is the second book of Laura Lippman's I've read, and I think I liked that first one a bit more, ("I'd Know You Anywhere"). This one is similar, and I am beginning to wonder if perhaps all of her books are similar. Which is making me remember why I tend to stay away from mystery writers in general...they really are, ultimately, all the same, aren't they?
SUCH a great book. Read it!

Saw the movie first then read the book. I learned so much more in the book about Chris Gardner and what he went through and endured.

An excellent recounting of Malcolm's life from someone who was there to witness it first hand. I had already read Malcolm's autobiography (as told to Alex Haley) and had been told I didn't know anything about Malcolm because that book wasn't accurate. So I picked this one up and it seemed to corroborate the details in the Haley book. I think the majority of American's really misunderstand Malcolm and the type of man he really was.

This is certainly a fascinating story, and anyone who watched "Big Love" will be interested to learn just how much of that program is actually based on real life. The writing is just okay, typical for this sort of autobiography that's not written by a professional writer.

LOVED returning to my youth and enjoying a good "comic" type book. But even better, I got to pair it w/my love of Evanovich campy-stories. And it's such a quick-read... it's a wonderful change of pace.
