I liked the first book in the series (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) despite the veering into almost super hero status of the title character. Sort of a guilty pleasure. So I was looking forward to this book. Still a page turner, but at some point ones credulity is over whelmed by the Lisbeth Salander character's now super super human aspects, especially the ending. Available as ebook. (view spoiler)

beautifully written story with a simple but very important message. all children's books should aspire to accomplish so much. No matter how many times I read this book, the last page still moves me.

I was expecting a little more humor, coming from the author. However, the story was fun enough.

Great story...even though I knew the basic plot, there were still many surprises.

** spoiler alert ** i love, love, love this book, and i didn't expect to. Thinking about it, I couldn't really work out what it was that I loved so much, I just found it so interesting, and I enjoyed the Rhett/Scarlet bits, will they won't they... even though i knew the ending of course! Have just watched the film again which was actually fairly true to the book, although they leave out all the Ku Klux Klan bits!! The way she 'spelled out' the way the black ppl spoke annoyed me at first, but I think it really helped make it real. The characters and relationships are so well developed and interesting. Melanie's character in particular had a real effect on me, has there ever been a more wholly perfect but still likeable character in literature or in real life? I absolutely love her in the book, and I think she was absolutely perfectly cast in the film. She is just so sweet and good and lovely that it makes me want to CRY! I love her. Oh I don't like Ashley in the film - MUCh too old! He is a nancy anyway. I also think Rhett is perfectly cast in the film. It's almost as if MM saw the film first! I like Melly because although she's really sweet and soft, she's got very strong morals and opinions which she will make known if she feels it's right, even though she hates doing it. Like when she says to Mrs Meade (I think it was) that she WILL speak to Captain Butler, and invite him around etc despite what Mrs Meade says. I didn't find the ending particularly unsatisfying. Scarlett annoyed me by the end because she was so slow at realising things about herself, although she was starting to get better. And Rhett kind of annoyed me too because he was so self-centred. I don't think he would have come back to her, but I think she would have seen him again many years later at Tara and realised she was best off on her own...

Hmmm...just not my kind of book. Maybe it just hit too close to home (wink, wink).

I don't really have words for how amazing these short stories are. Just read them, okay? They're beautiful. They're moving. They're scary. I normally hate short story collections but these work together as a unified piece of art, I like them better than her novels.

Crossley-Holland turns the myths into a cultural event with an informative introduction and copious endnotes, which compose about a fourth of the book. The stories themselves, though, come across as short folk tales for children (no offense intended to old Snorri Sturulson and company). The one exception, the prophecy of Ragnarok, which packs an entire mythical apocalypse of universal darkness and destruction into four pages. It's worth reading, re-reading, and a little memorizing. Start with: Axe-age, sword-age - sundered are shields - Wind-age, wolf-age, ere the world crumbles...

Always has to have a happy ending. I predicted this one about half way through. Title is misleading. It's not about sex.

One of my favorite books of all times. I really enjoyed this book. I laughed so hard people in my airplane asked me what I was reading as we were exiting the plane. It discusses a lot of inconvenient truths for many Christians out there and validated my position regarding many points. It's fun and easy to read while discussing very serious topics.
The Encyclopedia of TV Spies by Dr. Wesley Britton is a “must have” for any fans of the spy genre in television and movies. Dr. Britton not only summarizes some of the best known and least known on-screen spy stories, but he synthesizes his vast knowledge to offer insight into why some had long-term success while others had short runs. This level of insight combined with engaging extra features that address connections to novels and music, makes this encyclopedia exceptionally informative. I highly recommend this book!
