Loved it! One of a few novels where alternating perspectives really works, and is more than just a gimic.

This book is well written and quite controversial during the times. The main actress is a handful and I will let you read to find out. On this book, it is more about the style of the writing then the like ability of the characters. Atleast pick it up at the library to read a chapter or 2.

Loved reading this, even though I know most of them by heart already. Another great way to experience Simon's poetry.

Sometimes got slow...had to push myself to finish it. Overall worth reading though and lots of good recipes.

In my efforts to read Agatha Christie's books chronologically, I had to read this book a little bit out of order. This was written (or at least published) after "The Secret of Chimneys," but I finished this book before "Chimneys" since I had it on loan from the library's inter-library loan. They don't allow renewals for ILL! Regarding the book itself, this was not my favorite Poirot, although it does have classic buffoonery from Hastings. The plot is spaced out over almost a year's time, which is a bit different from the Christie's I have read recently. Many of those take place over a much shorter period of time, with perhaps a trial taking place a little while after most of the action occurred. In "The Big Four," almost every chapter occurs a month after the previous, and there are several seemingly unrelated mysteries covered. I say "seemingly" because Poirot realizes these mysteries are all from The Big Four.

probably the funniest (in a wryly funny, self-depricating, midwestern sort of way) thing ever written in the english language, and the cartoon illustrations are even better.

I can't come up with enough superlatives to use about this book. Engrossing, riveting, terrifying, awe-inspiring. Just a wow all around. Such a tragedy that ultimately can't really be blamed on anyone. The book reads like a novel and is as much a page-turner as any fiction I can remember. I also highly recommend the audio version of the book.

Footfall is a good "the aliens have landed - now what?" story. The ultimate outcome is not too hard to guess but the twists and turns that the story takes make for a fun ride. Another interesting thing is the invaders resemblance to a species native to Earth and the author uses this well for occassional comic relief. He is able to keep the book from becoming too dark without getting silly about it.

** spoiler alert ** Drat! I wrote review and it didn't save. *sigh* Starting over..... I am a fan of Sarah Addison Allen's books. And this book pulled me into the characters and location just like her stories always do. It is a simple story and not hard to figure out, which could be a dissappointment in the end for some. I do love how easy it is to read her books. Though I enjoyed the characters and story of this book I was a little disappointed by a few things. (view spoiler) Over all I liked the book but could not give it more then 3 stars. Thinking back now, I think SAA may have even gave a cameo appearance to the main character in her previous book. It has been awhile since I ready that one The Girl Who Chased The Moon so I didn't catch it at first and have to check the names to see if I am right. If that is the case, that is a neat little feature.

This thrilling, adventurous novel is defintiely something suspense-lovers would enjoy. The main characters, Peter and Thea create the suspense in the story by taking turns leading the story. The foreshadowing near the end of each chapter creates an even more suspenseful feeling and adds to this creative, imaginative story. The main section of the story takes place near Qaanaaq,Greenland, but the main characters adventure dowm underground and into an icy town called Gracehope. Peter is an adventurous, curious boy who also has special seeing powers. He sees mysterious objects with his powers and those objects guide him to the tunnel to Gracehope. While Peter is wandering around near the surface, Thea is planning an expedition to reach the surface with her cousin, Mattais. But when this mischeavous, young duo gets trapped and Mattias gets hurt in the ice, Thea calls for help and meets Peter. The two protagonists take Thea's cousin back to Gracehope and a conflict between Rowen and them begins. Rowen, the antagonist, is also the city council leader and she is mad at them because they left the city boundries without asking for permission and she will punish them severly. Many city folk will help them, but Peter and Thea have a dangerous fight ahead of them when Rowen unveals her lethal threat of sealing the passage to the surface forever.
