I had many problems with this book. I really don't like Nicholas Sparks' writing style at all and I'm one of those people who always prefer's the book to the film but for me, the film is a lot better! The film for The Notebook is one of my favourites but the book really was disappointing. I struggled to finish it but I did and I don't think I'll be picking up another Sparks book again, I did attempt to read 'Nights in Rodanthe' aswell but it was abandoned.

Pretty funny (certainly not as funny as Lamb, but it had good moments). So, loosely summarized, this is Moore's version of King Lear, told in the genre of crude British comedy (is that redundant?) and from the point of view of the fool. One of my favorite moments that encapsulates what you have to look forward to: "The sound of boots on stone echoed in the dungeon and I looked up to see the bastard Edmund walk into the torchlight. He kicked one of the unconscious guards and looked at them like he'd just discovered monkey come in his Weetabix." At this point in the narrative, there's a footnote after the word Weetabix and at the bottom of the page you'll find the explanation: "Weetabix - a British cereal biscuit whose taste and texture are generally thought to be improved by the addition of monkey come." Enjoy!
i read it in one night when i was an exchange student in russia, all of the girls on the trip passed it around. i don't care if it's a fake diary or whatever, it was captivating.
So i'm still sorta reading this book, but i only need 2 more pages so technically i'm kinda done. Anyway, this is a beautiful book. Jim Morrison's a genious poet, this man really influenced me.

2nd book I read by Neil Gaiman and 1st book I read on my new Kindle 2 !!! It was not as good as the Graveyard book. Was harder to follow and not half as endearing. I still don't regret taking the time to read it though. But if I tried to explain what it was about I don't think I'd do anything but confuse you.
I haven't figured out what compelled me to make it through this whole book. It wasn't really a novel, but an adaptation of the pre-novel format used by Boccaccio in his Decameron. As in the Decameron, a group of characters retreat from society for ten days and engage in discourse about various topics. While in the Decameron, they were escaping the plague, in , it's the advent of the Iraq War they are trying to avoid. I have a lot more thinking to do about this book, so this is it for now.
