Quick read... So amazing to read her story of survival, but the whole time I'm reading it, I'm feeling terrible for her.

I found the story to be a bit of a mess, honestly. Ever and Jhonny were likable, but all the events that surround them just seem to be randomly thrown together. A lot of attention was brought up on Ever's life like ex Addison, his mother, randomly his father, his dog... but they never make an appearance in the novel and his issues with them (particularly his mother) are never resolved. Jhonny, on the other hand, although gets half the novel told in his pov really feels like a secondary character since it felt like his sister and mother, heck, even his father played a bigger role than he did. And finally, what bugs me the most, was that what Chris did during the week (when everyone thought he was doing his security work) was never revealed. It's like they all just conveniently forgot that little detail. This story was really short too, which is probably why it read like it was rushed.

hilarious, poignant, and often moving.
Unrelentingly depressing, but beautifully written. Who wants a drink?
This one was one of the best of the Pierce novels. I liked the main character. She was clever and tricky. Both great qualities.

Far, far too much in-depth analysis of ancient wool & felt-making techniques & far, far too little focus upon the mummies themselves. Mallory & Mair's book,'The Tarim Mummies' is a much better, more comprehensive treatment of the world of these mummies.

A spiritual journey that Elizabeth Gilbert goes on is both poignant and witty. Elizabeth's memoir is candid, funny and allowed me to reflect on my own life. She's great: "the Yogic path is about disentangling the built-in glitches of the human condition, which I'm going to over-simply define here as the heartbreaking inability to sustain contentment." I definitely was able to resonate with her anecdotes and feelings about finding something to really be content with. All in all, a great read.

This was one of the best books in the set I received. It's filled with a lot of information, good pictures, and has a lot of background history.
