I like Hard Love becauase it was refreshing. I likde the dynamics of the relationship between the main character and all the people around him. I got midway throught the book and thought I had it all figured out, but I didn't. So, stick with it, you won't be disappointed.

I was really looking forward to this book. It has been getting rave reviews, and it just looked like something really unusual and possibly magical. But not for me. I felt like I was slogging through it, but I didn't want to give up on it in case it was about to get good. And there were a few parts that felt like something was moving forward, but not much. And then something happens that we see coming but hope the author won't go there - just killed it for me. I felt set up - maybe that was the author's point - comparing how we felt to how Ava felt - but I don't do sabotage well. If your tone is going to be magical and enchanting, go for it - but don't change it 180 degrees and boobytrap us at the end. Definite disappointment.

This was a very enjoyable and quick read. While not as good as her Outlander books, it was still a satisfying historical mystery. Lord John Grey is a wonderful character it was nice to see him as a main character in his own right rather than a supporting one in Claire and Jamie's story.

I felt this one was very similar to the first book in terms of pace, but it gets a little denser with the politics. 4 stars. It's not my favorite genre, though.

12 news stories which are all entertaining. Many deal with crime but it is not the main focus on many of them. The first few are the most entertaining to me but the last couple also are captivating.
