This book is depressing. The characters and their reactions are not believable, and they're annoying. I listened to the audiobook, so the level of my detest may be in part due to the reading of it. In any case, it's probably not a good thing when half way through the book you're begging the hero to commit suicide so the darn thing can just be over already.

Hands down his best - if you only read one Stephen King novel make it this one!!
** spoiler alert ** 3.5 stars...subject to change Still processing. But wow. *****After processing a bit... What I didn't love - Too short. Almost felt like a novella. I bought it on Kindle so I don't know the thickness of the book, but I read it in less than a day so that should say something. It just seemed like there were some parts that were missing from the book. Half-breed daughter, well technically tri-breed, who everyone wants to kill and vampire mother will do anything possible to save her. Twilight anyone? Who did the demon DNA come from? Dave? That part should have been explored. It wasn't touched on at all. I know all along that Bones had faked his death. And that Denise would double for Katie to be beheaded. Even after all that, I still thoroughly enjoyed the book! I think it would have gotten 4 stars if it had been a bit longer. It definitely was a step up from the last book. I also grew to love Ian a bit more in this book.
I initially read this book because it is a classic and I have never read it before; I expected it to be dry and difficult to get through. Once I took the plunge, however, I couldn't put it down. Bronte's writing is honest, clear, and as I read it felt as though a level-headed friend was talking to me over cake and tea. I feel inspired by Jane Eyre and her determination to live, survive, and thrive despite her circumstances. The book is timeless for a reason and Bronte is, unhesitatingly, one of the greatest authors to have ever lived.

An autobiography about a Sudanese boy who gets involved in the war and then rescued by an English woman. His story is very heartbreaking. It was difficult to read about a 9 year old walking around with a gun and wanting to kill Arabs. I still cannot fathom a country allowing it's children to fight. Anyway, I think that the ending shows that a child can move on after a life of war, but never really recover.

I can't believe this woman is still alive. She drinks so much it is hard to believe. One of her psychiatrists ought to be sued and have her license revoked. Reading this book makes me feel a little like I've had too much coffee, like a movie that is so intense it makes your palms sweat. One thing I can't understand is where did all the money come from, did her writing really cover all those expenses? In between all the bipolar episodes she must have somewhat of a normal life, I wish she had of touched on that.

Abby- This book wasn't good? I read a favorable review of it in the NYTimes a few years ago.

Lucy may feel like a forgotten goddess, but there are those that still worship and respect her. She lives her life surrounded by them and is happy, but misses male companionship. She attends the local hockey games and is attracted to one of the hockey players and is surprised to find out that he's attracted to her as well. Brandon has had his eye on Lucy when she attends his games and decides to find out more about her by showing up to the bar in which she owns. Lucy is shocked when she learns that he's attracted to her as well and they both decide to give into that attraction when they share a night of passion. They feel right for one another and it's almost as if fate has brought these two together. Lucy's life is in danger and in order to protect those that worship her, she must decide to transfer what remaining power she has to someone else. Brandon wants to help her and feels a natural need to protect her. There is much more to Brandon that he realizes and with the help of some of Lucy's friends, he learns a secret that has been kept from him. I could really feel the attraction between Brandon and Lucy while I was reading the story. Their scenes were sexy and I liked how Brandon took the initiative to go to Lucy and let her know that he wanted to get to know her better. I think that even though Lucy is a goddess and has power, she was still very naive in thinking that she would be safe and that her life wouldn't be placed in danger at all. It had happened to her other fellow goddesses and I think she should have had some preventative measures in place just in case. I'm glad that Brandon was there to help her and his storyline ended up being my favorite part of the book. I loved how his secret was unraveled and how the reader was able to learn more about his past experiences. I'm a huge fan of mythology so that aspect of the book appeals to me greatly. I like that the books in the series are quick, easy reads and that's due to Stephanie Julian's great writing. I was hoping for a little more excitement, but I was still able to enjoy the storyline.

really darn close to a 4. First let me say, yea it's not a Vampire book! Although some of the characters reminded me of/ felt a little like some of Jeaniene Frost's character's from The Night Huntress series. This book IS different and worth reading. It has mystery & humor with a little bit of sexiness thrown in. I would've given this a higher rating then 3 1/2 if I didn't feel like it had lost some steam right in the middle. It quickly got it back, but just lag in that small spot. Is this book worth picking up? Absolutely! Will I read the next book? Heck yea!
