I love Dark Knight Returns as the next person but I enjoyed the Long Halloween series more. Loeb is one of the best comic book writers in the business and Sale's artwork is outstanding. The artwork is what really holds this series together. While I enjoyed Millar's Batman, this one seems more true to the style of Batman. The art has more design put into it and looks like there was actual thought into how it was drawn.

I read it. I laughed. It was really fun, and I felt really girlish. I am going to read it over and over again. Some day I even want to own my own copy. Maybe. This is the kind of book you read on the bus and it's really embarrassing because you can't stop laughing. I like Georgia. She is my friend, in my dreams as least.

This is a collection of stories that use and develop the themes found in "Fahrenheit 451" and the "Martian Chronicles". In it you get a sense of Bradbury working and developing the ideas of his later best selling novels. What left me deeply shaken was his spot on reading of the the decline of American civilization and culture. Ideas written 50/60 years ago are now headlines. Finishing the book one is left with the question of what will happen to this country in the next 25 to 75 years. Given the decline in reading, the almost 1984ish mindset regarding war, & the level of greed I am not hopeful. The only problem with the book is the lack of annotation regarding the date and development of the stories. It would have been interesting to have Mr. Bradbury's comments and thoughts on these stories and about how they aided him in the development of the novel we know today.

I appreciated Faulkner's use of character's voices to narrate the story from many perspectives. I also admired his effective use of local voice, although it was sometimes hard to fully understand the characters through their dialect... Very sad and graphic at parts. I wished I had been reading this for a class or with a reading group instead of on my own.

I thought this would be a more "grown-up" version of something like Twilight...at least that is the gist I got from reading other's reviews. The premise is interesting, but I felt like I was forcing myself to read it just to get it over with! I kept hoping it would get better, but not really. I did like the character Constantine, but Rae, was just painful. I didn't like a couple of pages where it felt like the author stuck in a couple of smutty sex pages because that's what probably the publisher wanted her to do. It didn't flow, was very stilted and crass and then all of the sudden it seemed like we were back to her own writing again. I guess if you are into the dark vampire books, you may like this one, but as an easy read...I wouldn't waste my time.

If I could give this ZERO stars, I would. I did NOT like this book AT ALL. It is one of the few that I couldn't even get through in book club. Down with The Hobbit!

The story is an interesting one. I like the ideas, or don't, that it presents. I felt it tried too hard in some places to come up with new words or terms. It also felt rushed and almost touched on too many things too fast. Overall it was a good book but there were parts of it that just felt too over done.

While looking for something to read one day my friend Tracy lent me this book, as soon as I was done I had to go out and buy the other 2. Not one of Noras "regular" books, I very much enjoyed this trilogy and would recommend it!
