Wow. A book set in Botswana where the characters come off as actual people and not as simple minded, overgrown children.

I think this book is hysterical. Ignatius C. Reilly is an over the top absurd character and I appreciate this story of his attempts at getting a job in New Orleans. I need to re-read this book as some Post-Katrina lit since I think that a lot of places featured in the story are now gone.. :( My favoite line in the story, when Ignatius says, "my being has many facets". I like to describe myself that way!

I feel guilty for giving this book only three stars, when I did find it very poignant and beautiful. I will need to read it again to fully appreciate I think. Those who get the most from this book I feel have read it several times. It's definitely still on my to-read list.

Pollan traces how food gets to our kitchen tables through industrial farming and ranching, organic farms, sustainable agriculture, and hunting and gathering. He presents an ecological approach to understanding how Americans acquire food. After reading this book, I have decided to make more of an effort to buy local foods and meat that has been humanely raised.

This book has taught me some incredible things, and something new everyday. The fact that a man with a story like Oswald Chamber's could have such great faith and belief in God is incredible to me - and a great testimony in itself. Get to know a man of God through his writings, and you will get to know God Himself.

Well he's not my favorite Westhighland White Terrier but he's close. My favorite picture is when they are all watching the sunset and McDuff has his own little producer's chair. His little pointed tail hanging out and hit little pointed ear standing up; and of course he's being petted and loved on. He saved the day afterall. I also love the picture when he gets the front seat and he "fell into a sausage-squirrel dream." I know that pose well. Westies are the best and McDuff captures their spirit perfectly. Oh yeah, and the ride home is priceless too with his little pointy nose riding in the wind. Great book.
