This is my favorite Sarah Dessen book. I can really relate to the main character in the book. Often not expressing how she really feels, she folds under pressure when she meets new friends who make her talk about her feelings. She learns to stand up for herself and do what she wants and what makes her happy and learns that it's not her fault her Dad has passed away. She finds someone who makes her happy and brings out the best in her. Gotta love a happy ending!

This book was a great read during a hard time for me. There is not many books written specifically on cancer but this one helps to articulate so many hard emotions. My brother passed away from melanoma cancer and this read was very helpful. I'd recommend for anyone with cancer or someone who has a loved one with cancer

This one certainly made me cry. Couldn't put it down though. What an absolutely amazing story. I definitely recommend it. It's an easy read with such intense and tragic circumstances..

If it is poetic license to be so blunt in narrating your own statutory rape, then, ok, I have no argument. But I do get the story. He had been running with scissors all his childhood and there's no one telling him that he was in danger. The writer's childhood was confusing and very sad. I wonder where was Social Welfare and Services during those times.
One of my favorite books that I read in 2006. It was one of those books that I passed onto my mom and she enjoyed it as well.

This book was definitely a fast read. It kind of felt like reading a short story. The story didn't go very deep (characters or plot) but it was a mind break from The Stand.

Finally, a portrayal of a single woman without the disdain or loneliness. Alice's twin brother recently died, and she stumbles on a project to keep her mind off of the loss: a 6-yr-old girl with a negligent mother and a stuffed bunny named Lucy. Alice becomes a foster parent struggling to find her place in a family dynamic that is constantly changing. An interesting side note: Alice is a sign language interpreter and the story takes place in Cleveland and Columbus.

Loved this one! I know Angela does not agree, but I was entranced all the way through. Definitely one of Bohjalian's better reads, in my opinion.
