A really long book that could have possibly done with some additional editing as it dragged in places. I'm glad to have Beka's story completed (and the linkage between her family and Alanna's explained!), though I would have liked to have spent more time with Beka's friends and family who we met in the first book. (view spoiler) All in all, I've liked this glimpse into Tortall's history, but I'll probably wouldn't re-read the trilogy.

Fellas, it is critical that you read this book immediately. It's everything your girlfriend or wife wants you to know, but may not tell you. A girlfriend gave me the book and I thought, What the hell? Why would I read a book about guys getting more sex?. Then after the first page I started laughing myself stupid. I don't know how she knows all this stuff, but she was right on target with her analysis of what motivates women and why men should learn that info immediately. She may have written it for men, but I've lended it out to a multiple friends and I still don't have it back. I'm going to have to buy another copy. I'm making it my coffee table book. All men--i'm single-- will have to read it prior to date 2. Okay, not really, but I'd hope they would read it so they can get a clue. Fantastic read.

I found this book on the floor beside me one night while staying at a friend's house. Honestly, I had no genuine interest in its content, I just wanted to get to sleep! Little did I know this book had been waiting for me all along. This gem, through the work of fiction, introduced me to my soul. Demian is probably the most non spiritual spiritual book I've read. It was my gateway literature into spirituality (took another 8 years to get there.) Thank you, Aaron Ward, for letting me crash at your apartment that night and indirectly introducing me to Mr. Hesse. May you rest in peace on your anniversary, my friend.
