This book is Wendy's story about her love of the Little House books and her obsession as an adult to experience Laura World, which includes learning how to do some of the things mentioned in the books, such as churning butter, and visit the locations of the various locations that the books. The book didn't provide any additional information that other Wilder biographies provide, but offered another fan's perspective and impression of Wilder memorabilia that was interesting. I kept thinking of Julie and Julia as I read it. Writer with sweet, patient boyfriend/husband who goes along with the fixation.

I would say that this book series is a lot better than its predecessor. It's a lot more mature and well written. It's more well thought out. The characters I found to be more interesting. Jack is a bit more mature. I know these books are written for children, so I'm not exactly the target audience.

The first few chapters are really geared to those 40+, who may not be aware of the existence of some of the flatteners and their effects. For someone younger than that, it's a history lesson, but perhaps even more boring - it's an explanation of the world most of us have always known. It isn't until the later chapters of the book that it gets somewhat interesting, as Friedman expounds a bit about what the future holds for the semi-flat world.

Lucas has returned to town intending to enlarge the family ranch and find a suitable wife, but isn't prepared for the fireworks between himself and the decidedly unsuitable hellion who is Dee. (Also, a couple sets of friends of theirs get together, for extra added steaminess and sexy parts). In general, I'm not a big fan of the alpha male romance hero who decides what's best for the heroine and sets about convincing her of it. However, this spitfire might actually be able to stand up to him, and that's worth reading about.

I wasn't too fond of this book, and it was upsetting since her series was so good. It seemed like in the series, Viehl started to dislike the sometimes mean and ornery attitude of Cherijo and did a complete 180. I had a hard time following this book and didn't really care for the ending. I took a long break after this book before I even considered picking up the next one.

I was very excited to receive this book, as I've enjoyed Dany & Dany's artwork for quite some time. And, in this book, the artwork *is* stunning. The story itself leaves a little to be desired. It's muddled, not quite as tight as I think it could have been, and the ending was a rather weak, quick happily-ever-after for the pair contained in the tale. I was able to read it within the course of about an hour while multitasking with work. This is quite telling for me, as I was able to retain the story while only half-paying attention to it. I'd expected... more, I think, and so, all-in-all, I'm a bit let down. However, the artwork is absolutely beautiful. I'm happy to own it for that aspect alone.
