This has to be one of the best books I've read in a very long time. I usually read fiction, and so was pleasantly suprised by this candid and heartfelt memoir. Walls is an excellent writer - you live her life along side her as you read each chapter. Wonderful book!

I found this book interesting...and also quite depressing. Wheelis is an aging psychiatrist who reflects on his very painful childhood including his abusive father and smothering mother. While he writes with vulnerability and some eloquence, his message of despair did not endear me to the work. (not that there's anything wrong with that).
I think I must have read a different book from everyone else... 5 stars... really?! not for me. I knew "who done it" early on, there was information overload, there was added plot too near the end (to help make more sense of it all) and I really don't care for books which seem to leave out the final chapter. I'm still wondering who done it (#2)

Very interesting from a history stand point. I enjoyed finding out more about events that happened when I was small. Things I'd heard about but never understood because I was too young. For example, the Iran hostage crisis.

OMG! What a book! I can see why it's controversial. The author has a lot to say and none of it is politically correct as to her views on raising children and discipline. At times, horrifying and hilarious, moments of deep tenderness and bloodthirsty rage. It's a compelling, very quick read (I did it over two days) and grimly fascinating from start to finish. Is it great literature? No, but the author is no dummy and has views that she is not afraid to make known. I loved it. Will be anxious to get feedback from my friends and family members who are parents.
I don't think Brizendine presents anything in this book that hasn't been thoroughly debunked elsewhere. As science, it's crap.
So far so good. Nice perspective.
If you live in the United States and you ever find yourself eating food, you must read this book. It's much more balanced than things like Fast Food Nation (which certainly had its good points!) and it's not a vegetarian manifesto. The subtitle, "A Natural History of Four Meals" means just that: he goes through four meals, from Iowa cornfield or Montana ranch or Virginia polyfarm or hilarious California boar-hunting through processing all the way to the table.
that boook is not the good for me because i dont like it ..hahahahahahahahahahahahahaahaahahhaahahahah
