How does a person fall out of love? What contributes to it? This excellent novel explores just that, telling the story of a should-be novelist and the passionate love-of-his-life. Their desire for each other is overwhelming, all-consuming. It's what keeps them together, the foundation of their love, until, all of a sudden one morning, he wakes up and doesn't want her. Why? That's the story he tells, and it is very interesting. However: this is two books. If you want to crack it open, and I encourage you to, please think of it as two books. You'll be much better prepared for it (I got fatigued toward the end). There is no greater code for courtship than walking. Learning to keep in step; the opportunity to express little concerns -- alarm, caution, the touch on the elbow; the blood running in the veins; the sense of movement and shared goal; the sense of just being two amid the swirl; and above all the ability to talk expansively in the open air without the anxiety of each other's gaze and close scrutiny. Those who wish to find love should learn to walk.

This might be the scariest book I've ever read.
This truly interesting and readable book is one to buy and keep! To highlight and bring out at parent meetings, staff meetings, school committee meetings and budget times. For those who are interested in history and trends in librarianship, there are some wonderful synopses of the leading library beliefs about reading and readers, major studies of reading done over the last 100 years, and rich annotated bibliographies for those who want more. I particularly appreciated that data and anecdotes were drawn from throughout the English speaking world, and not just the U.S.A.
This book is one of my favorite books of all time! It taught me so much about what Godly love looks like, and how love means running after something sometimes, and at others it means waiting. My husband read it before we got married and now thinks every guy should read it too~

interesting....if you are a history nerd....or really like pirates. I think his argument about the "many headed hydra" is a little artificial and over-reaching, but i appreciate it because he tries, and it's kinda thought-provoking.

What a creative way to present a view of the Iranian revolution! Through the eyes of memoir and a child's view, this was a creative and informative work. I think the story fit the graphic novel format beautifully and it was a quick read.

If you're looking to learn from someone who understands how trite yet important the discussion and writing of poetry is, look no further than this book. Oliver understands the intricacies and history of verse. This handbook made me the poet I am today, and I refer to it often. Simple, concise, and perfect for beginners.

This book might be difficult for some to read. I gave it back to the person who loaned it to me and the only thing I could say was, "Wow."
Enthralling. Couldn't put this one down. The icons of punk are disgusting, horrible people. Ron Asheton comes out my favorite, the most level-headed. I'd never been aware of the story behind the New York-U.K. punk connection, and now I can appreciate the opinion of folks who say Punk died as soon as it became popular. Everyone into independent music should read this.
