I thought this book started out really strong & I liked how the story developed, but somewhere along the way I lost interest & I felt like the plot lost some steam. The book finished strong though...Palahniuk is really good at wrapping it up, whenever he decides to do it.

If you stay up all night to finish a book... I'm not sure what else to say. Read it.

December, 2011: I'm going to revisit my 2006 decision not to finish this book. I think it was probably hasty, I was probably being a prig, and I'm hoping that to the extent I was a foolish child then, I'm not one now.

Simply excellent. It's complex and dark and evrey book I fall harder for Harry. He's the classic film noar alcoholic detective, but he's so good at it and he so desperately wants to be saved, it's heartbreaking yet bizzardly enough - hopeful. And the suspense oh the suspense... And the twists and turns, oh, and the villains oh oh. Jo Nesbo is an excellent writer and this is (yes yes) an excellent book.

I really liked this book. it actually kind of creeped me out though, which is weird because its not scary or anything. but its good so read it. plus it looks a lot longer than it is, most of it is pictures.

It was interesting to read a book that was true and took place in a town I lived in for 3 years! It was crazy that I waited until I lived in Seattle to read it, although I could picture in my head so much of the locale of the book. It was also crazy to kind of see things that changed and things that stayed the same in Muncie. The story itself was crazy, and to see that this kid became the man that he became in the world that he grew up in is amazing. I also have to say that racism makes no sence to me and certianly makes me sick. I also have to add that Gregory's dad was a true Muncie charector!

It was a bit difficult to keep up with the different characters and names, but I really enjoyed this book. Plenty of unbelievable moments that leave you wondering how such obsured ideas relate to you, but they do! Great ending. Love the magic and mysticism. Definitely a must-read.

Pretty damn scary. But it's a mass market. ;)

Interesting how people are freaking out over the concept of hell houses when there are "tunnels of oppression", which is an equally ridiculous concept. If you don't believe "tunnels of oppression" exist, click here. I will get around to reading this book...it should be interesting to note all the ridiculous Christian stereotypes and whatnot.
Don't hate me -- but I LOVED this series. If someone had told me that I -- a 28 year old -- would love books about a high school girl, vampires and werewolves . . . I would have laughed in their face. However . . . they would be right. This was not as good as the rest of the series, but I still enjoyed reading it nonetheless
