This is a story about family secrets and how they shape your life. A grandmother looks back at her life while helping her granddaughter with a class project and thinks about what has meant the most to her. She tells her granddaughter to make sure that she makes choices that will give her a fun and joyful life instead of the life that her parents want for her. Great story and thought provoking.

I bought this one solely for the title. It turned out to be a good read as well.

Wonderfully uplifting and inspiring book! I just wanted to try harder to be a better person after reading this. I am amazed at how loving and Christlike President Monson is. He is the epitomy of charity. What a great example he is to all. There is also a lot of interesting church history in this book, particularly the era of the church in communist East Germany. I found it fascinating how the church was able to establish roots there and even get a temple dedicated there while it was still under communist control. Great read!
Quite helpful for the information about how to make a living as a freelancer, but the jam-as-many-pop-culture-references-as-you-can-into-each-sentence style got real old, real fast.

As I read this book, I felt like I had read the whole thing before, even though I couldn't remember exactly what was going to happen. When I finished it, I felt stupid for not realizing how the sequence of events would go. Pretty standard and not that imaginative. I did laugh out loud at the last line though.

Very quick read. Inspiring fable for all adults. Enjoyed the many different settings. It felt more realistic that the main character didn't blindly follow his dream but had doubts and haardships along the way. Some Favorite Quotes: "When you want something , all the universe conspires in helping you to acheive it." "When each day is the same as the next, it's because people fail to recognize the good things that happen in their lives every day that the sun rises." "If you can concentrate always on the present you will be a happy man." "Life is the moment we're living right now." "When you are in love, things make even more sense." "When we love, we always strive to become better than we are."

A little technically challenging to read for a non-horse person such as myself but Hillenbrand does a great job in explaining the lingo of the world of horse racing and training. A lot more detail than the Hollywood movie provided, this is a much fuller and richer depiction of the three men whose lives were entwinned by the horse known as Seabiscuit. An enjoyable summer read.

Wow! I had just finished reading Asimov's foundation trilogy and needed something to ween me off of my nerd fix. I asked the used book shop girl about something science fiction and tongue in cheek and boy was I happy. This is all about cave men and how they invent fire and love and stuff and then it makes their lives easier but then burns them and stuff. Really swell. Don't miss it, its really short too. Although my girlfriend couldn't really sink her teeth into it.
Eh. There were enough legitimate plot points in the book to hold a story together but I just don't like how this author unravels her books. Lesson learned.

I love this book! I'm a HUGE fan of Louisa May Alcott and this is a fun departure from her "traditionally published" work. I believe this manuscript was one of her early works and wasn't discovered until after her death. It is a true "romance" novel...1800's style. Passion, adventure, love lost...I enjoyed every sappy moment! And it made me love Louisa even more!
