A great mix: historical fiction / YA book--- post-Revolutionary War setting, burgeoning feminist bent, and a good inclusion of the African-Americans who helped save so many people during the yellow fever epidemic in Philadelphia in 1793.

I am officially appending my review after this morning's read-aloud session with 2nd grade. It was the first time I'd read Bark, George aloud to a class, and it was a HUGE hit. HUGE with a ginormous capital "H". I had the kids turn to each other and rate it after we read it, and every single one of them gave it 5 stars. Then two students came in late, so we read it again, and they did all the animals sounds, especially the last one, with great enthusiasm. This will go on my list of greatest read-alouds ever. I love reading the book to a brand new group of kids who've not heard the story before, because they give me my very favorite part of the story, the response: after I read the last word, there is a slight pause that is quickly followed by an audible gasp. LOVE it. I have to admit that the middle creeped me out a little bit, along the lines of the versions of Little Red Riding Hood where the woodcutter axes open the wolf and Grandma jumps out. Still, complete winner with kids. And if I didn't know better, I'd think this came from the mind of one Robert Munsch....

Absolutely riveting book about survival under an oppressive government. I loved this book. It's just the right amount of sci-fi, action, and almost some romance. My kind of book all the way.

I first read this book when it first came out and absolutely loved it. It is one of my all time favorite books. This is one of the few books that has made me both laugh out loud and cry while reading it. I have probably read this book a dozen times over the years and still enjoy curling up for the afternoon with Morgan and Sabrina. I highly recommend this book and the author, Teresa Medeiros, to any fan of highland or historical romances.

Re-read, obviously liked it if I read it again.

I dislike the fact that Gladwell proposes to be stating something 'new'--I feel as though he's trying to pass off his insights as revolutionary, 'this could make you thousands of dollars' but it's merely common sense. I do enjoy reading his anecdotes and some of his analyses--for example, his discussion of how Blue's Clues finally topped Sesame Street was pretty interesting.
