Find Full Review at http://www.readingangel.com/2011/09/w... I really enjoyed this book. I loved that it was told from a male perspective, yet I was still able to connect with the characters and the story so completely. It would switch between the point of view of Ryder, the Witchlander, who was the main narrator, and sometimes Falpain, the Baen. I really loved both of these characters. I also loved getting to read a story about two male characters who are connecting on a magical level, and who are connecting from enemies to friends. This wasn't a book about a romance, which was a refreshing thing for me, and not something I get to read very often.

Gritty and endearing, this novel features two main characters who's lives of golden possiblity dissolved and dissipated into debauchery, but they are unabashed by the change. They take a young, friendless, familyless girl under their wings, for lewdly nefarious purposes, but end up transforming her life into a life of potential and meaning. They teach her to accept her life as a whole and to see the world around her with transformed eyes. She realizes that the men are not wholly good or bad, but merely men and she comes to love them for their personhood. It's an interesting read. I may be careful who I recommend it to, but I found it endearing and engaging. I highly recommend the movie A Love Song for Bobby Long, which is based on the book, though loosely.

I remember my mom reading this book to me when I was just a little girl. I always feel loved when I read this book.

Lacks the intensity of Ender's Game, but the plot and themes are well-conceived. Card perhaps works just a little too hard to make sure you get the message, but overall this does not detract from the ambitious scope of the story.

I'm on the fence with this book. The first half of the book I find is slow and had a hard time relating to the character. The second half springs a important thing that should have been mentioned earlier in the book. The end was a little bit better, I may check out the second book because I heard it was better than the first.

One of my all-time favorites as a kid. It's about a girl who turns into a cat. That's pretty much all you need to know. I wrote her a letter when I was eight, and this is the one I got back: March 6, 1992 Dear Kathy, Thank you so much for your very nice letter. I am so glad you like Bella Arabella so much, rating it number 2 on your top list. You are indeed a very big reader, and I am flattered you think so highly of my book. I liked your poem about the New Year a lot. You have real talent. I also love cats. I have had them for many years (at present, four), and I continue to be fascinated by them. They have such distinct personalities. Keep up your good reading habits. I hope the remainder of your school year will be very happy. Sincerely, Lisa Fosburgh

I read this book because of the show of Lifetime. I really liked the book but its not really like the show. I was suprised with the ending but all in all it was a really good book and changed my mind about what I thought about army and their families.

I really want to give this 3.5 stars, because I really liked it, but it dragged at the end. (I started thinking, "Ok, I get your point, you don't have to say it over and over 5 different ways.") I stumbled across this book at the library, and since, like the author I'm in my mid-30s and considering parenthood, it seemed like a good fit. Krasnow is very honest about her struggle between her career ambitions and raising her sons, and while she ultimately chooses full-time parenthood, she does not preach that all mothers should stay home full-time. What she does say, however, is that mothers of young children especially need to be careful not to miss their children's childhood, whether that means staying home full-time or cutting back your work schedule enough that you can be fully present for your children and not constantly distracted with work. I plan to buy this and keep it next to Anne Lamott's Operating Instructions when I have children.
I liked this series for the most part. I'd definitely recommend the Galaxy of Fear Series or the Young Jedi Knight series over this one for children. They're much more interesting. I'm not sure about Junior Jedi Knights though, they're probably on Par with this.

it's not a really good book, but i'm a fan of the other two ringworld books and Larry Niven's 'Known Universe' so I was suckered in. some interesting stuff happens, but the ending is quite unsatisfying. i could have been just fine not reading it.
