I thought that Marissa did a nice job telling a classic story with a very unique and fun twist. Her storytelling really pulled me into Cinder's world and I enjoyed her writing style. The remaining books are on my TBR list (seems like this list keeps getting longer haha) and I look forward to finding out how the story continues.

this is pretty fluffy for parker..yes, a mystery but not terribly suspenseful..however, i certainly enjoyed it!!

If you like the Vampire Novel then this is an AWESOME book to read. It's a cross between House of Night and Romeo and Juliet. That's all I'm going to say. Anymore and I'll have to include a spoiler alert. NOTE: There is a sequel, but whatever you do DO NOT read anything about Stargazer. It will RUIN the surprise in Evernight!

** spoiler alert ** The main character of this book is a guy named Hans van den Broek. He is a banker from London, but travels to New York City for a job offer and stays in the Chelsea Hotel. He was not into the whole New York City lifestyle, and fell even more uninterested when he was left alone after his wife and son returned to London. They left because they felt unsafe as foreigners in the City shortly after 9/11. They were staying in the hotel because they were unable to live in there studio in Tribeca until they were told they could return. The loneliness continued until he met a man named Chuck Ramkissoon, a Trinidadian, who had a unique way of looking at life. Hans reconnects with his passion for the sport Cricket, a game he played when he was a child. Cricket becomes important to his life in the City. Hans begins to connect with the life he was living in New York and began to embrace it. As his journey continued and he was introduced to "another New York" he comes in contact with a diverse area filled with different nationalities and race, people more in touch with the person he was, rather than the everyday New Yorker. I found this to be interesting because it really made the story progress, since for once in Hans time in New York City, he didn't feel alone because he was introduced to people who shared a common thread of interests and lifestyles. Ramkissoon had a very positive effect on his life because he opened up new doors for Hans to meet people he never would have met if it wasn't for Ramkissoon. To me, I see it as a home away from home. Also as a way to reconnect with his childhood love for the sport Cricket in a new setting. Unfortunately in the beginning, they break the news that Chuck's body was found in a river. This triggers the memories of Hans time with Ramkissoon. Overall, I thought this book was pretty good and it kept me interested. I would recommend it to others, but it isn't a must read.

December Roses is set in Darby in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. While the story is fiction its base is the remembered actual experiences of Bonnie Woods Burgess' father. At the outset we meet John Woods and Sarah Pipes as young country folk and it is their lives that we follow. From their country courtship, through the births of their five children, we trace their life journey through their pride of owning their own cabin, the hard work of their everyday lives, and the coming of the iron horse (train) to their neck of the woods. This is an enchanting tale of the simple life that was the precursor to our hustle-bustle world. While sometimes a thought or two is left incomplete the reader is called upon to fill in the blanks and may do so based on their own experiences. While it seems that the author may have written this story for family and friends, I found this book enchanting and a worthwhile read. Definitely worth the time it takes to read this relatively short narrative.

It was fun to look at. Will I remember everything, no way! Were there some surprising things, definitely. And I just plained like the comparison of how many donuts worth of sugar, or how many pieces of bacons worth of fat there were in things. I love donuts and bacon!
