This was my introduction to Andre Norton back in Junior High School. Living in the small town of Frederick, OK, I quickly learned that "there is no frigate like a book" and this one is an excellent introduction to Medieval literature. Norton edits and translates. She stays out of the way of the original story brilliantly. This does not read or feel like any of her other work, because here she is restoring (if you will) a very old classic and bringing it to a young modern reader. It worked for me. I've been a fan of Andre Norton ever since. If you like King Arthur, Roland, or any of the other stories of knights errant then you'll find plenty to enjoy here. It would be interesting to read this with Don Quixote, since this is the type of literature Cervantes was satirizing in his novel.

Not an easy read, but a thorough look will give up a lot of insight into the way writing works and demonstrate the genius of Aristotle.

A timeless children's classic. I learned to read at a very early age largely on account of this book. Not only that, I still own the very copy of What Do People Do All Day I cut my literary teeth on. It's been loved to near death: the binding, long since disintegrated, now consists of three loops of candy-striped yarn, and the outside edges of most of the pages are in tatters. Yet Huckle and his companions live on, as industrious and helpful as they were forty years past. Richard Scarry's works nicely complement the less complicated but slightly deranged Dr. Seuss staples. Scarry's humor is more subtle, with most of the funny stuff going on in the background, more slapstick and less bizarre than Seuss's.
Super interesting, but my easily distracted brain moves slowly through non-fiction.

*Review will be posted on From the TBR Pile on 2/3/12 I had been looking forward to reading Julie Garwood's latest for a while now. It finally hit the top of my TBR pile and I devoured it. The Ideal Man has a great balance of romance, mystery and action. Everything I love about a good romantic suspense! Ellie and Max are great characters. I loved the chemistry between the two of them. Ellie is a strong female character and is very well matched to Max's confident and protective nature. Who wouldn't want to fall in love with a guy like Max? I was so rooting for their HEA. There are a couple of mysteries going on in this book. Ms. Garwod throws in a few twists that keep you guessing. The peripheral characters of the book round out the tale nicely. Ellie's family is entertaining, especially her bridezilla sister. The only thing that I didn't like about the book was the side story of her sister's missing baby daddy. I felt like the story line was thrown in as an after thought and the resolution to it was way too rushed. I think the book would have done well without it. I can't wait to see what Ms. Garwood comes out with next!

Great book- a real page turner. And I'm usually not big on court room dramas... but it reads like a Sunday night movie of the week... Aw...remember those...
I thought I was going to really love this book by Steve Martin but...I had read his other books and really enjoyed them but...this one let me down! If you don't know NYC and especially the Chelsea area and the galleries there, I don't think this is going to hold your interest much. I found the characters flat, the writing just ok and the story disjointed. I almost think he went to a lot of trouble to invent a story around an interest in art and he didn't do a very believable job of it. I didn't care what happened to Lacey, it all seemed rather too contrived and "whatever" for me. Recommend it? I guess if you live in Chelsea you'll love it, especially if you think you'll find yourself in this book.

这是我上小学的那几本既生动又令人愉快的书。 这绝对是我几乎想拥有并再次阅读的儿童读物。
