This book was extremely intense! I had a difficult time with the first half of the book because "the great sadness" was overwhelming to me. I loved the second half. Whereas I am not sure it is a theologically sound book, I did like the fact that I was challenged to acknowledge my own true doubts and beliefs.

** spoiler alert ** One and a half stars of those 3 are simply for the idea. Genius. I took one full star away for the atrocious illustrations inside. The cover design was so excellent, I guess I expected more art direction inside. But man those drawings are bad. Also, lots of balls jokes. Which, while funny, and yes I'm mindful that I'm reading a zombie book, seemed out of place. I mean, I can accept Elizabeth wielding a katana (not to mention munching on the still beating heart of a ninja) but I can't see Mr. Darcy, in mixed company, making a balls joke. In any case, it seems designed to appeal to people like me (who embrace the literary but also embrace the zombies...tho' not literally), and so I'm pleased this book is in the world. RA: It will either appeal to a reader or it won't; it's the concept or nothing with this book...all the good writing is Austen's already. And familiarity with P&P is definitely useful.

an appreciative exploration of life, science, and existence. Definitely not a book for critical scientists, but a beautifully illustrated experiment in imaginative thinking. Not a straight read-through, but best for skimming and simply opening to a page and reading a few anecdotes (700 pgs or so). Written by a Baha'i, I believe.

I loved this book. I always love Jodi Picoult books and this one didn't disappoint. I thought the subject matter of 'wrongful birth' was a little disturbing, but Picoult always handles difficult subject matter well. I sometimes had a hard time liking the character of the mother, but then there would be times that I thought she was trying to do what was best for her daughter. I was often torn. Great book.

THE BEST autobiography by any muscian, ever. Hands down. Some classic scenes in the book including an ostrict and the California condor. I read this book in one sitting. Excellent.
