Good stories, if a little morbid. EDIT: They're often good because of the morbid. And also it's fun to read them and then sit there and go..."what." Or to summarize them, because they're always ridiculously random and kind of...abrupt.

I do like reading Somerset Maugham. Insightful. Biting wit.
Brief (116 pages) single encounter of former lovers, with flashbacks.
When first I read "The Magicians," I felt ambivalent. I was unsure whether I liked it or not. The book penetrated some pretty deep feelings that left me pensive. After a year or so to digest, however, I can say with surety that "The Magicians" is a book that will stay with me forever. It broaches subjects that are well worth close scrutiny. This is definitely a book I'll want to re-read many times over the years.

They always say 'never judge a book by it's cover', however when I saw this looking pretty, and half price, in my local Waterstones, I couldn't resist. I did sit and read from cover to cover, however finished the book a little unsure as to what had just gone on. It's not that I didn't enjoy the book, but it was a little over-complicated, and a bit too political/religious/scientific for me to follow that well. I recently gave this to a friend of mine for his birthday who absolutely loved it, so obviously just not my cup of tea! Overall: Not a bad read, but for me, a little hard to follow.

I want to say thank you for the opportunity to read this great book. I enjoyed reading how Harry overcame some many obsticles in his life. It makes you realize how much what an individual can achieve with determination and believing in themselves.

Light, yet informative read covering the interrelationship between cells, germs, viruses, bacteria, genetics, and disease, and how we've evolved as humans with varied environmental sensitivities. Good coverage regarding how evolution works along with some clarification about general assumptions. Some cutting edge research is introduced as well as a gentle introduction to some of the ongoing debates in the scientific community. Fun, educational, and practical. I read this one quickly. For an overall sense of human adaptability and luck, this one made me appreciate the body and immune system in a new way.

Having never read a Sherlock Holmes book before I was quite excited to read this, and overall was not dissapointed by the results. The mystery was set up in a way that given enough thought, you as the reader could solve it, however, it was still complex enough that the solution was not obvious. I was actually dissapointed that Sherlock Holmes was not present for a good portion of the novel, but the book even had an explanation of that. In general I like books that appeal to logic, and this was certainly one of them.

This brought back a wave of memories of the '92 Clinton presidential campaign. I identified pretty strongly with George in his disappointment in a candidate he had worked so hard for, and yet still finding himself liking the man immensely.

Regresaré a DC por unos 10 días, ¡así que pensé que sería divertido leer finalmente este libro que he llenado con historias que tienen lugar allí!
