Everything started when I found this novel in 1997 when I opened my father's casket which is locked tight. At that time I was in the first degree, university. It is remarkable to read and have this novel, because it is different from the novels of other science fiction until now, 2011. I think the story is very plausible and beautiful with the involvement of our imagination to enter into this story. Yargo, and his perfect planet, with an infinite sanctity of a Yargo, just like God to the whole planet and the universe. He brought peace to the essentials, but it all feels very cold, felt no emotion at all not even need to feel the warmth of love. But ultimately Janet Cooper, an ordinary woman who is considered the underdeveloped planet, destroying the pride and greatness of a Yargo with a kiss and love. Very very amazing..
I enjoyed this book a lot! Suspenseful and very mysterious! Loved it!

Great book! I prefer the book cover illustration of UK version that features a donkey and an elephant sharing a bed stuffed with money. The collages is by Winston Smith- one of my favorite artists.
Slightly confusing plot, but definitely captivating. Jodi Picoult really put it all out there and made her characters more life-like and personal than I would have thought. Well-developed characters and heart rendering story. Its not just a novel about love, but mending/breaking relationships and teenage/adult perspectives. The Pact was one of the most intense yet touching novels yet.

This book is a work of non-fiction. Although it had some interesting information it can't help but make one angry that a police officer, one sworn to protect and serve, was also a mobster.

While interesting I don't like reading book where all they do is try to thrill me by telling of their great accomplishments. Also I feel bad for his father... Just saying...

The Scorpio Races happen every November: Riders attempt to keep hold of their water horses long enough to make it to the finish line alive. Sean Kendrick, a young man of few words, is the returning champion. Puck Connolly, who never meant to ride the races, has to enter, and is the first girl ever to do so. Neither of them are prepared for what is going to happen. I've always really liked Maggie Stiefvater's writing, and this book was no different: characters you like right away, really interesting plot, and a bit of romance that just feels incredibly real. The chapters alternate between the two main characters--a device used frequently lately--however it's very well done. I never once forgot whose chapter I was reading, because the voices were pretty clear. I think Stiefvater's YA is my favorite kind to read...None of the cheesy high school stuff, with a little bit of a fantastical element that pulls you into the story from the start. I definitely recommend this book!
Better than the previous book in my opinion.

This was a fun, easy read. I particularly liked the way Prachett plays with language. The link between language and dreams was an interesting concept that I should think more about. If I had time I would probably read more of his books.
