It is a really nice book which remains as a best seller one about a few years and Clint Eastwood made a movie out of it,that rated as 2 thumbs up.I also translated it into persian,when I was at the university as my great work to finish my reading and I got the first place amongth all the students that time.As many years passed,still sounds nice and real as " Gone with the wind",and I love it the best. This book is very long. The font is very small. The spaces between the lines are even smaller. But, it is so good, so charming, so heartbreaking, and so much like real life. Virginia Woolf called it "the most perfect of all the Dickens novels." While I haven't read all of Dickens' books (though I hope to someday), I'm not going to disagree with her. Chapters LV (Tempest) and LVIII (Absence) are exceptional.

I read this inspired by BBC's biography of Sylvia Plath (just google Sylvia Plath..starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Daniel Craig). Ted Hughes, Sylvia Plath's rat of a husband, translated this edition and did quite a good job. This play is very accessible. It was kind of predictable, like something I've seen in a Shakespeare play... just with Spanish characters. Try finding tragedy not inspired in some way by William Shakespeare-it can't be done.

This is the second in the series and it was as good as the first. I really like both the hero and heroine MC's as well as all the secondary characters. I find the writing is done well and the plot and storyline move along quickly and is exciting. I actually had to stop for a bit because i found the I couldn't read FAST enough for my own liking to get to see what would happen next and it frustrated me! LOL It is set in and alternate world similar to earth in like the 1800's. maybe? I will move on tho the 3rd part next. Looking forward to it.

It's a good book, especially if you're interested in politics and history. Vowell's honest nerdiness is endearing, but some of the chapters/essays are better than others.
