A lovely book. My only wish was for a little bit more subtlety or a slightly lighter touch in the writing of the first half. I feel like I was getting pounded over the head with the main theme.

One family's horrifying story of life right before, during and after Hurricane Katrina. How the family still lives there with all the injustice that was done to the father is beyond me. Their strength and faith renewed and strengthened in their city, state and United States altogether amazes me. I don't think I could feel the same.

Can Samantha persuade Matt to keep her secret so she can help her family, and can she convince him not to despise her for her deception? I highly recommend this book, and the other Avon True Romances, to teenagers who enjoy historical romances. This book was a really sweet love story that I truly enjoyed.

I hate saying it due to the nature of this book, but I really didn't enjoy it. I really didn't understand the point of the first third of the book. The second was mostly little life maxims told in story form and the last section was just a tear jerker, "good bye to my kids" type thing. I'm sure this book is meaningful for his family, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

We spend about 50 pages in recap of book one. After that the story moves along at a snails pace, but toward the end we get some action. I liked Charlie and Astrid a lot more in this book. They are still dysfunstional but at least I can tell Charlie likes her a little. In book one I felt like she was his fall back girl. Cordelia is coming into her own as a business woman and I love it. Speakeasy owner suits her character. I prefer Max much more as her love interest. But I can't imagine anyone liking Thom after he had her father killed in book one. I'm not much into Letty's character she comes off as a stupid spaz. Even in book one I couldn't stand her. Who plans a trip to New York with no money, no place to stay, and no job. I know it's the 1920's but come on, really? Thank God Cordelia had it together or they would been stuck in Nowhere, Ohio.

this whole book was based on this particular authors completely out of date reality of teen sex today. i had to stop reading half way through i was so disgusted.
