I'm not sure I'd be intimidated if I saw this wandering around at night. Or if he told me he was a Dark-Hunter. I must say this one is probably my favorite so far. It's nice to see Valerius get the happy ending that he deserves. When he was first introduced into the story and I found out who he was I hated him with a passion. Plus he was stuck up in Night Embrace and really rude to Zarek. But his kinder side showed in Night Play not that it made much of a difference. I still thought he was an ass. I'm happy to see that he's not even half as bad as he appears to be. The book begins in the Jackson Square where Tabitha Devereaux is desperately trying to un-cuff her sister Selena from the fence that boarders the Square. Selena is upset about some new law that was passed saying that physics can't tell fortunes to tourists in the Square anymore. So Selena handcuffed herself to the fence not far from where she sets up her stand in protest. Since Tabitha knows what stalks the night she knows that she has to get her sister free from the fence before she becomes Daimon bait. Selena has the key hidden in her bra and since Tabitha ain't gonna go looking for it she tries to pick the lock but Selena bites her hand, so Tabitha sits with her on the sidewalk to protect her from the things that go bump in the night. Luckily for the both of them Ash walks by, and being the generous man that he is, offers to buy the store that is up for sale just across the sidewalk so that Selena can keep reading tarot cards. Selena is ecstatic and gratefully agrees. Once they all part ways Tabitha follows her normal nightly routine of stalking Daimons and feeding the homeless, you know, all that good stuff. This is how she meets the infamous Valerius Magnus. She's in the middle of a fight with the Daimons when Valerius sneaks up behind her and all she saw was height and fangs so she attacked. Once seeing that she hadn't just killed a poor lawyer or an accountant she gives Nick a call to have him help get Valerius back to her place since Ash isn't answering his phone and neither is Otto. When Valerius wakes in an unfamiliar room with a transvestite humming in the corner. Of course when Tabby comes into the room Valerius remembers the attack and beings to slightly freak out. So he calls Acheron to try and get him to find a away for Valerius to leave pronto. But as usual Acheron wont lend a hand to help him. So he's left with Tabitha the mad woman. During this part of the book Valerius seemed like a prude. I mean he had to complain about everything she tried to feed him. At night fall Tabitha escorts Valerius home and they part ways. But neither one can keep their thoughts off the other. So it's a good thing that Marla ( the transvestite needs a new male escort for the pageant she has entered in. So Tabitha seeks out Valerius for help. And reluctantly he agrees to help. The story from here on out just gets better and better. You see life through Valerius' eyes and you just have to feel sorry for him. No one likes him, Dark-Hunter, human, or god. Nobody. It's enough to bring tears to your eyes. He's a kind man and doesn't deserve to be treated like crap. The story of the Dark-Hunters really takes off in this book and sets everything into motion. This book also confused the hell out of me in mean of Katra's relationship with Acheron. I had no clue what to think until I read Katra's story in Devil May Cry. The characters are loveable. Valerius is one of my favorite characters. He's 6' 6 with shoulder-length black hair and blue eyes (when he's not a dark-hunter) and he's very muscular. He's a beautiful man with a hard past that the present does nothing to reconcile. You feel horrible for him throughout this entire book with the way he's being treated by everyone who knows Nick or Kyrian. Tabitha is real eccentric 5'10 little butt-kicking warrior, with dyed black hair and an athletic build. She has a mouth on her that would be a challenge for Nick to match. But she's very intelligent and unusually wise for her age and attitude. And of course our favorite characters are back such as Amanda, Kyrian, Julian, Talon, Nick and Otto. Even though I did not like Kyrian, Amanda and Julian in this book with their treatment of Valerius. They treat him like he's white trash that's not worthy of breathing the same air that a cockroach breathes, and that seriously pissed me off. I love this book and all the characters in it. The story was awesome! I seriously love this book! 5/5 stars.

Kira was only trying to help when she “rescued” Mencheres from the pack of ghouls attacking him. Little did she know that it would get her tangled up in a supernatural world that she had no idea existed, or into the arms of a four thousand year old vampire. Kira is a beautiful addition to Frost’s world. She is a hardened private investigator who isn’t fazed by anything; let alone accepting the existence of vampires. Kira was believable in everything she did, she believed the story because it ended up being logical to, she took it all in her stride not because she is amazingly empathetic but because she knew any other course of action, any rebelling on her part, would end in her death. She also took in being made into a vampire into her stride as well. Knowing that if this was how she was to live from now on, she would do it with a conscience and she would do it because living meant something to her. Then we bring in Mencheres, the super-powerful, four thousand year old, slightly suicidal ex-pharaoh of Egypt and current co-ruler to his and Bones combined lines. Mencheres has lost his power to see the future; all he can see is darkness which he believes is his impending death. He’s old, he’s tired and he’s weary of the cold war going on between him and his arch-enemy Radjedef. Eternal Kiss of Darkness was packed full of anticipation surrounding Radjedef framing Mencheres for a crime that carries the death penalty within the vampire world and the race against time for Mencheres and Kira to clear his name. The relationship between Kira and Mencheres was beautiful and very well done; both with similar pasts of betrayal are astounded by their feelings for each other. It was also mildly frustrating in a good way with the amount of times they were interrupted, so when they finally came together for that all important ceiling sex, it was so worth it. Cat and Bones made an appearance in Eternal Kiss of Darkness, although they weren’t painted in a good light which kind of disappointed me even though it was understandable from the history between them and Mencheres. Vlad also made an appearance which made me fall that much more in love with him and his humorous ways. As with First Drop of Crimson, the cover disappointed me with Eternal Kiss of Darkness it didn't seem related to Mencheres at all and Kira was blonde. Frost blew me away with her writing once again. Although I am not as fond of the Night Huntress World books as I am of the Cat & Bones books, Eternal Kiss of Darkness is a wonderful addition to my collection of her work.
