Pretty Carl Hiaasen-esque. A good, quick read -- one lazy afternoon. "Pulp Fiction" like plot with lots of characters that are all involved with one another despite their knowledge. Recommended for a light, funny, quick read.

AMAZING! The Millenium Trilogy is the best series of books I've ever read. Bold statement, I know. But seriously, I have never been so hooked on any three books. I will say that the second book was my favorite of the trilogy, and this book had the least action of the three, but was still just as captivating as the previous two. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest brought everything full circle for me. I would recommend these books to anyone who is looking for a once in a lifetime read!

I could sum it up like this: a zombie book written by Mel Brooks' son. But that would not do this book justice. It's a faux documentary written after the world narrowly escapes a zombie apocalypse. It's got the army vs. zombies, underwater zombies and a subtle subtext that will have you thinking about the way our world would really handle a global infection.

I spent over one year reading this book, digesting 3-4 pages at a time; I thank Mr. Chernow for allowing me to spend that year with John D. The prose is descriptive and perseveres for over 700 pages without growing dull. I envy Chernow's diction.

I WANTED to like this book--I really, really did. However, I finally had to surrender to the fact that I really, really didn't. I love fantasy as a rule. In fact, I grew up reading and re-reading my beloved, dog-eared copies of Andrew Lang's fairy tale books (in ALL the colors.) This particular fairy tale was vastly inferior, in my opinion, both to Lang's excellent stories and to Gail Levine's first book, "Ella Enchanted". In "Fairest", the relationship between the main protagonists, Aza and Ijori, didn't ring true to me, and the whole singing thing, especially the lyrics, came across as really odd rather than as an integral part of the story. Because I really enjoyed reading "Ella Enchanted", I will definitely give another of Levine's books a try, but I definitely won't be putting "Fairest" on my keeper shelf.

my friend Lindsay gave me this book for my birthday. It was quite an interesting read. I have never read anything that is so critical of Islam, and that was really eye opening. I enjoyed reading about her cultural transitions too. The book got a little "long" for me, though.

Oh man! Was originally trying to read this book just for fun. Now, it has become more like a required college reading, haha! Seems like I have to refer to additional resources to gain a better understanding. The metaphors, motifs and symbols in this story are really not that easy to comprehend right off that bat.. well, at least for me. I do know why many people rave about this novel...it is very moving in that the author does draw in the reader quite effectively. After a few chapters, I envision being out in a Long Island beach.. wow! Despite all the difficulties in picking up on overlapping meanings and whatnot, I am not giving up! I have like a bunch of other books to read but luckily this one is lightweight and easy to carry around with me. But this sure goes to show, big things do come in small packages, though!
