Almost a 5. Great and original story. Great suspense. Didn't quite buy the narrator.
This was such a tearjerker and an emotional experience. Such a touching story of love and family. sniffle, sniffle.... From back cover: "When Mikaela Campbell, beloved wife and the mother of two, falls into a coma, it is up to her husband, Liam, to hold the family together, to care for their grieving, frightened children. Day after day, he sits by her bedside, telling stories of the precious life they have built, hoping, always hoping, that she will wake up. Then he discovers evidence of her secret past: a hidden first marriage to Julian True, a man no woman could resist...or forget. Desperate to bring Mikaela back at any cost, Liam turns to the one person who could make her respond-and who could take her out of his arms forever."

This is a great rhyming and sing songy story. It would be great in storytime about all sorts of babies and what they are doing. Birth+

Seven Types of Ambiguity is divided into seven chapters, each narrated by a different character. At the center of the story is Simon Heywood, and he's obsessed with Anna who left him a decade ago. Anna is unhappily married to Joe, but she stays in the marriage because of her son. Simon kidnaps her son in an attempt to win her back, creating havoc that boomerangs through many lives, including his psychiatrist and his friend, a prostitute who has Joe as one of her clients. The title is borrowed from literary critic's William Empson book about poetic ambiguities. Elliot Perlman explores the ambiguities and complexities of modern life and the chaos caused by greed, commerce, and self-indulgence. Seven Types of Ambiguity has received mixed reviews with BookPage saying, "This 672-page tome might be difficult to pick up, but it's almost impossible to put down." *This review comes from an online source-it caught my attention when looking up the top 100 books of 2006 list.

this book has abbey's charecteristically misogynist and slightly racist views in it, but past those it's a really good read about eco-action. the book gives a good historical starting off point for the early earth first! movement. it is not quite as good as the sequel, hayduke lives!, mainly due to the length, but it is action packed and quite steamy at times.

It's not the original short story by Asimov, but Mindi bought this on ebay for us to read. The big question is who will get to it first! We both LOVE Bicentennial Man!
If I was a history teacher, this would be my textbook. It's the kind of book that you can't read by yourself because all you want to do is read the funny parts out loud to people. It is total comedy genius, plus it's a brilliant history book. The best part of the whole book is the chapter on Hannibal, and about his journey over the Alps via elephant caravan, which is pretty much the most ridiculous way you could think of to cross the Alps, and how every time Hannibal wrote home to Carthage to send more elephants, the people of Carthage would respond, did he think they were made of elephants and what had he done with the elephants they sent before. That line made me CRY laughing the first time I read it.
