It was pretty good - an entertaining story. I thought it was going to be a negative look at suburbia - but it really wasn't. Some weird twists but overall pretty good.

This book kept me as enraptured with it as it's predecessor Firelight did...I had to know what was going to happen...I think the draw of this book (for me at least) is her struggle against what she wants and what everyone wants her to want....I think the oppressive masculine dynamic is the real antagonist in this book and I think from a female point of view I can certainly relate to wanting to rebel against such outdated ideals....That being said this book was simply way too short....I can't pretend to know what's it's like to write a novel but I will say this...Ms Jordan, you must release bi-annually if you're going to keep us in this much suspense! I look forward to the next (hopefully longer) book...

The text: wonderfully utopian and badly in need of an editor: classic 1970s hippie. The modular furniture/living structures Isaacs built and presents detailed schematics for in this book are genius. This is DIY modern in its earliest and most accessible iteration. It reminds me that every generation thinks it has invented the wheel - artists and designers keep coming up with similar concepts in lofts and modular furniture and calling them revolutionary, 30-40 years later.
