Not the best of writing, but the plot was exciting. Yes, I cared what happened! I especially like the tie-up-everything ending where our hero hooks up with the heroine who he met only 24 hours before. Way to go, professor. Totally believable, of course.

I liked this one better that Life, the Universe and Everything. It was easier to read and made me laugh out loud. I may have liked this one better because it is mostly set on earth. Can't wait to read the last book in this series so I can finally know what happens to everyone.

was a lot more political than i expected... the musical basically deletes that entire portion of the novel (good thing too!) but an interesting read. took me a while to finish...

I read this book in fifth grade and have loved it ever since. If you've seen M. Night Shamalan's The Village, this book is pretty much that movie, only better and the original.

This book is a book that is good for people who like to read fantasy books that have magic. People that like books like "The Hobbit" or "The Lord of the Rings" would like this book. Allanon a tall dark mistic meets up with Flick who is a bulky veilman. Flick leads allanon to the veil where his brother shea is who is half man half elf and is the disendent to gerald shannara an anceint elven king. allanon tells them both about the history of the world. when allanon leaves the men are wondering if it is all true but when they see an ancient being called a skull berer they lose all doubt. when they see it they instantly know to flea. in the morning they start their journey to the kingdom of lee where their friend minion lives when they meet with him they tell him all that allanon had told them. then the three of them head out for callahorn to meet with allanon and other men that will go with them to find the sword of shannara. the sword is the only thing that can defete the warlock lord. after a few days of preperation they head out to the north where the sword and the warlock lord are on their journey they are encountered by many problems such as lossing shea. when they get to where the city where the sword is being kept. but when they get there the sword is gone and they are forced to go back to their own cities to prepare for war. shea ends up finding the sword and killing the warlock lord before the borderlegion is destroyed and all return home and go on living their lives. "perhaps you should know me, Though it is now suprising that you do not remember" (17)""The sword is very important" shea repeated" (383) this book is more discriptive than most books i have read. I believe that the theme is evil never prevails. protagonist: Shea he is the only one that can wield the sword of shannara. antagonist: warlock lord he is an ancient druid (old ruler that focuses on science) he turned evil and is raging war on the humans. the main conflict is that the warlock laor is getting stronger and they need the sword to defete him.
