I think most of my poor opinion of this book comes from the fact that the dog is chained outside in the first place. I hate that. Other than that, it's ok. Jack the dog is chained outside by his doghouse for the night. He's sad and sits and stares at the house. Until a spaceship of aliens shows up. The aliens unchain Jack and they go have adventures. For example, the dig in the sandbox and swim in the pond. Then the aliens clip Jacks' chain to the spaceship and try to drag him off with them. Luckily, Jack's collar comes off and he is able to remain on the ground.
