This book was so intriguing. It's a true story of this guy that goes to live in the wild. Reminded me a bit of the movie Grizzly Man. In some ways you'll completely sympathize with the guy and then in some ways you'll want to kick him in the booty. Jon Krakauer is a wonderful writer-and the book investigates every side of the story.

To be honest, it really got slow about halfway through and I ended up skimming the rest of the book. As long as she stayed and didn't try to escape, the FARC were very friendly with her, got excited for her to come listen to the radio and taught her how to weave belts. It was like she wasn't telling us something? Overall, the book did have a good message about how you shouldn't take your life for granted.

I enjoyed this and devoured it pretty quickly. I liked the world that Roth has begun to create here, however it was pretty vague and the story would have been stronger if this had been fleshed out a little more. I have questions such as what happened that caused society to end up like this? The ending cleared up some of the questions I had, such as what does it exactly mean to be divergent? I really enjoyed the characters. It was also refreshing to read a YA novel where the romantic element was not in your face. I look forward to reading the next one!
